Elevage in 65% nieuwe eik. Malartic Lagravière Blanc 2015 is zéér mooi en op niveau!

The Malartic Lagraviere 2015 Blanc, a blend of 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Sémillon, has a crisp, marine-scented bouquet with hints of sea spray and oyster shell intermixed with the citrus fruit and Granny Smith apples. I appreciate the subtlety here, the manner in which it gradually unfolds in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a fine thread of acidity, very saline, very expressive of its terroir with a bitter edge on the animated, tensile finish. What a superb white from Malartic Lagravière. Anticipated maturity: 2019 - 2032.

The 2015 Malartic Lagraviere Blanc is a blend of 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Semillon that was picked from 8-15 September and matured in 65% new oak. It has a crisp, vibrant, quite minerally bouquet, cold limestone and subtle patisserie/almost whipped cream-like scents. The palate is very well defined with a crisp line of acidity, citrus lemon and lime fanning out with confidence on the finish that completes one of the best Malartic-Lagravière whites that I have encountered at this stage. Drink: 2019-2040.

A fresh white with sliced green apple, lemon rind and cream. Full body, bright acidity and a long and flavorful finish. Layered and very dense. Wonderful backbone.

92 Antonio Galloni - vinous.com (Februari 2018)
The 2015 Malartic-Lagravière Blanc has turned out nicely. The warm vintage has amped up the flavors, and yet there is a good bit of freshness as well. Melon, lime peel and white flowers gain in resonance with time in the glass. There is a fair amount of up-front power and resonance, although some of that tapers off on the finish. I liked the 2015 a little more from barrel than from bottle. The blend is 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Sémillon. Drink 2018-2023.

91-94 Antonio Galloni – Vinous - vinous.com (April 2016)
The Sauvignon Blanc-based 2015 Malartic-Lagravière Blanc is fresh, energetic and vibrant, with plenty of green apple, mint and white pepper overtones. Varietal Sauvignon character is front and center in this gorgeous dry white. The 2015 was fermented in barrel (65% new), and yet the oak is judiciously balanced. This is a striking wine from Malartic-Lagravière. The blend is 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Sémillon.

92 Lisa Perrotti-Brown - The Wine Advocate - robertparker.com (Februari 2018)
The Malartic Lagraviere 2015 Blanc, a blend of 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Sémillon, fermented in barrels, 65% of which were new and 35% of which were one year old, and the wine remained in barrel on its lees for 12 months. It features lovely lime juice, lemon zest and green apple notes with fresh straw and crushed stones plus a hint of white blossoms. The medium-bodied palate is fine, racy and refreshing with great intensity and length. Drink 2019-2027.

16,5/20 Jancis Robinson – jancisrobinson.com (April 2016)
Smoky nose and very citrus on the palate. Very appetising. Polished and juicy.

91-94 James Molesworth - Wine Spectator – winespectator.com (Maart 2016)
Rich but energetic, with gooseberry, fennel and yellow apple notes forming the core, offset by bracing salted butter and thyme accents.

One of the stealth wines of the vintage, where the acidity – here zingy lime zest – builds slowly over the course of the palate, along with good tension and savoury herbs. Grasps on to the available freshness in the grapes and run with it. A lovely wine that will develop. Drink: 2017-2027.

18/20 René Gabriel – Wein Wisser (April 2016)

95 Roger Voss - Wine Enthusiast winemag.com (Februari 2018)
Smoothly textured, this fruity wine offers acidity and ripe apricot flavors. The zesty, mineral texture will allow it to develop well, promising of great fruit and texture in the future. Wait until 2024.

Refined and understated, as it was in 2014, this is one of the whites of the vintage. Aromatic and alluring, with notes of sea breeze and oyster shell, subtle spicy oak and a backbone of tangy acidity. Impressive stuff from a château that continues to improve. Drink: 2017-2030.
