Fenomenale wijn. We sommen op: intense, frisse en verfijnde neus met tonaliteiten van acacia, kamperfoelie en minerale toetsen. De textuur is rijkelijk en spannend in haar complexiteit en ampleur. De impressie is mineraal maar vitaal, met hinten naar groene appeltjes en citrus aangevuld met getoaste tonaliteiten van vanille in de finale. Domaine de Chevalier Blanc 2015 is een zachte en rijkelijke witte Grand Vin, maar met nog zo-veel reserve in petto... Dit maakt hem precies zo mooi: als je denkt dat je het gezien hebt, wordt “wave after wave” duidelijk hoe de proefervaring wordt vereeuwigd… Dit is panache! De oogst vond plaats tussen 7 en 16 september. 70% Sauvignon en 30% Sémillon. 35% nieuwe eik voor de élevage van 18 maand. 13,5%vol.
Jaar in, jaar uit, is dit de beste witte Bordeaux die in voldoende volume wordt gemaakt. Hij bezit een wonderbaarlijke verouderingscapaciteit, ook al kan hij in zijn jeugd al harten veroveren.

The Domaine de Chevalier 2015 Blanc, which was matured in 40% new oak, has a refined bouquet just as it did out of barrel, with gorgeous yellow flower, linden and subtle grapefruit scents that seem to wrap themselves around your senses. The palate is very well balanced with a crisp line of acidity, a dab of sour lemon that has remained since its élevage and a saline finish that feels so engaging and energetic. What an outstanding Domaine de Chevalier. I am fascinated to see how this ages in bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2020 - 2040.

The 2015 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc, which is matured in around 40% new oak, has a refined bouquet with gooseberry, lime, almond and grapefruit aromas, the oak neatly interwoven, gradually unfolding in the glass yet remaining focused. The palate has an almost flinty opening, very edgy but not shrill, a tensile and linear Domaine de Chevalier Blanc that is driven by the acidity, touches of crustacea coming through on the energetic finish. There is a twist of sour lemon and chalk popping up on the aftertaste. This is a great, intellectual, comparatively more reserved white from Olivier Bernard. Drink: 2019-2040.

One of the clear wines of the vintage, the 2015 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc is a stunner. Rich and intense, yet also finely cut, the 2015 dazzles from the very first taste. A host of lemon confit, white peach and slate notes race across the palate. Remarkably fresh and vivid, the 2015 offers an alluring interplay of textural creaminess and energy. I imagine the 2015 will age effortlessly for decades, as these wines do. The 2015 is 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Sémillon, fermented in barrel, with blocked malo. Domaine de Chevalier's Blanc remains a reference point, perhaps the reference point, for dry white wine in Bordeaux. Don't miss it!

The Domaine de Chevalier 2015 Blanc is composed of 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Sémillon, fermented in barrel (35% new), and aged for 18 months on the lees with stirring. It opens with lovely lemon tart, fresh grapefruit and pineapple with a waft of honeysuckle. The medium-bodied palate is very tightly knit with wonderfully crisp acid and a citrusy finish. Drink 2020-2035.

Year in year out, this is one of the best dry whites in Bordeaux. Focused and precise, it’s spicy, dense and rich on the palate, with a thread of grapefruity acidity, stylish toasty oak and a creamy texture. There’s a sense of something in reserve here. Drink: 2017-2025. Domaine de ChevalierIn 1983 kocht Olivier Bernard Domaine de Chevalier in Léognan van Claude Ricard. Hij runt het met zorg en inzicht. De witte wijn is een begrip in Bordeaux. Zijn bewaarpotentieel is geweldig. Vandaag bereikt ook de rode Domaine de Chevalier een kwaliteit ongezien sinds de jaren zestig. Laten we aannemen dat de laatste wijnjaren hun allerbeste zijn. Liefhebbers rekenen Domaine de Chevalier dan ook tot de voornaamste Châteaux van Pessac Léognan, samen met Haut Brion en La Mission Haut Brion, Haut Bailly, Smith Haut Lafitte, Pape Clément en Les Carmes Haut Brion. De prijs blijft bovendien redelijk. De getalenteerde Stéphane Derenoncourt is er consulent sinds 2002.
In de jaren 1980 en 1990 heeft hij de wijngaard heraangeplant op een densiteit van 10.000 wijnstokken per hectare. De gemiddelde leeftijd is nu 35 jaar en de wijnstokken komen op kruissnelheid. 55 hectare zijn beplant met rode variëteiten: 63-65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot aangevuld met Cabernet Franc en Petit Verdot. 7 hectare Graves op klei en een zanderige ondergrond net buiten Léognan is aangeplant met witte druiven op een densiteit van 10.000 wijnstokken per hectare: 75% Sauvignon en 25% Sémillon. De werkwijze in lutte raisonnée werd bio en biodynamisch.
BernardIn 1983 kocht Olivier Bernard Domaine de Chevalier in Léognan. De witte Domaine de Chevalier wordt al langer aanzien als één van de grootste droge witte wijnen van Bordeaux, en sinds 2002 herstelde hij ook het prestige van de rode wijn met de hulp van Stéphane Derenoncourt. Ondertussen werd hij mede-eigenaar van Château Guiraud in Sauternes samen met Stephan de Neipperg en de familie Peugeot, en vooral Matthieu Guflet. In 2011 startte hij een nieuw avontuur met Clos des Lunes in de Sauternais.
