G de Guinaudeau is een superwijn. Dit weten we al sinds 2009, maar “waw: quelle fraîcheur!” Toegegeven: we verwachtten wel solaire eigenschappen, maar op één of andere manier heeft Baptiste Guinaudeau het bij het rechte eind als hij beschrijft: “le fruit est rouge et le rebond frais”. Dit is tegelijk wonderbaarlijk en vatbaar om twee redenen: (i) de wijngaard van G rust op fronsadais (zanderige, lichte klei op een ondergrond van kalk) en (ii) de Cabernet Franc die er sinds 2013 is aangeplant uit de sélection massale van Lafleur maakt hiervan het beste. Zelfs met die 61% Merlot, zien we die petite froideur die G Acte 7 zo elegant maakt. Koop dit zonder dralen om zelf te genieten of samen te delen, en beleef mooie dagen. Analytisch gezien (14,2%vol, een hoge pH en lage aciditeit) danken we veel aan de eerste faze van vegetatieve cyclus met die grote warmte en droogte. Het werd een sensuele en strelende G opgebouwd volgens een klassieke geometrie. Deze klassewijn is allerminst overdreven of aanstellerig, maar werkelijke groot en bijzonder fijn. G Acte 7 verwerft meer lengte in de finale dan vorige Actes en vertolkt een bijzonder gesofistikeerd aanbod van de hand van team Lafleur. Ten zeerste aanbevolen!

The 2015 Acte 7 has a perfumed bouquet with pressed iris and violet infusing the black fruit, quite mineral-driven and focused, gaining intensity with aeration whilst retaining wonderful finesse. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, well judge acidity, hints of dark chocolate infusing the black fruit laced with truffle and a hint of liquorice. It fans out wonderfully towards the finish that has so much freshness, adorned with a long marine-influenced finish. The Acte 7 could be broached now although I would prefer to leave it another one or two years. Tasted at the Acte vertical in London. Drink 2020-2032.

The 2015 G Acte 7 was a little closed down on the nose as wines can be mid-winter after bottling. But it gradually opens with blackberry, briary, chalk and iris aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. This is very well balanced with lightly spiced black fruit, sage and subtle undergrowth notes toward the finish. This is fulfilling the promise that it showed from barrel, though it needs another 18-24 months in bottle.

The 2015 G Acte 7 is a blend of 61% Merlot and 39% Cabernet Franc this year, the latter from a massale selection from Château Lafleur. However, Baptiste remarked that it was the Merlot that worked so well this year. It has a well-defined bouquet with wild strawberry and blackberry scents, touches of cold granite and smoke coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with tensile tannin, a fine line of acidity, a more elegant Acte G with a precise, lightly spiced finish. Give this 2-3 years in bottle and it should drink well for the next decade. Drink: 2018-2028.

Blended of 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Franc, the medium garnet-purple colored 2015 Guinaudeau G Acte 7 opens with gorgeous plum preserves, spice cake and oolong tea notes with hints of kirsch, blueberry preserves and Sichuan pepper plus a waft of potpourri. The palate is medium to full-bodied and very firm, with wonderfully fine-grained tannins and impactful freshness and tension, finishing long. This needs time! Drink: 2022-2035.

The 2015 L'Acte 7 de G is gorgeous. Pliant and supple, as so many wines are in this vintage, the Acte 7 retains considerable freshness and nuance throughout. There is a level of precision here that is truly remarkable. Red cherry, raspberry, mint and expressive floral notes add lovely shades of nuance to this very pretty, delicate wine. Acte 7 emerges from the Guinaudeau family's vineyards in Lalande de Pomerol. The Franc parcels are largely planted with selection massale cuttings from Lafleur. Drink 2018-2027.

The 2015 L'Acte 7 de G, the Guinadeau family's 7th wine from their property in Lalande De Pomerol, is soft, pliant and expressive. Sweet red cherry, plum and floral notes give the Acte 7 its distinctive enveloping personality. Massale selections from the family's Lafleur estate are playing an increasing role here. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how things develop here in the coming years.

The seventh vintage of the Guinaudeau family’s red blend comes from a “puzzle” of soils in Fronsac. It’s a wine that consistently outperforms its appellation. Finesse, sculpted tannins, lovely perfume and a lingering finish. Elegant winemaking at an approachable price. Drink: 2019-2026.
GuinaudeauJacques en Sylvie Guinaudeau en nu hun zoon en schoondochter, Baptiste en Julie, staan aan het roer van Lafleur. In Pomerol staat deze legendarische wijngaard bekend als «le vignoble-jardin ». Lafleur is eigendom van hun familie sinds 1872, één jaar na de stichting van Vyncke-Daels…
Lafleur is een mythe en één van de allergrootste wijnen van Bordeaux. Hij is diep, intens, karaktervol en cerebraal. Omwille van zijn zeer beperkte productie (om en bij de duizend kistjes) is het cult- en knuffelgehalte bij verzamelaars wereldwijd bijzonder hoog. Naast Petrus heeft Lafleur waarschijnlijk het mooiste terroir van Pomerol, ook al rekent Lafleur voor 65% op Cabernet Franc om de droom werkelijkheid te maken; bij Petrus draait het om 100% Merlot. Samen brengen ze de allerbeste Pomerols en dat met de regelmaat van een klok.
Julie en Baptiste wonen op Lafleur, en Sylvie en Jacques op Grand Village in Mouillac nabij Fronsac (ze maken er een knappe rode en een vibrante witte Bordeaux). Op de weg tussen Grand Village en Lafleur startten ze in 2009 een nieuw avontuur met "G de Guinaudeau" die ze graag bestempelen als "een grote wijn in wording". Onlangs werkten ze zelfs met Sauvignon Blanc druivenstokken uit Sancerrre om een piepkleine productie witte wijn te maken die de naam kreeg « Les Champs Libres ».
Het mag tegenstrijdig lijken maar de familie Guinaudeau zijn perfectionisten met een laissez-faire attitude. Hun inborst en werkwijze toont hoe je het hoogste niveau kan bereiken van op drie verschillende terroirs.
