Er zijn luttele flesjes beschikbaar van dit apart perceeltje van slechts 0,7 hectare middenin de vignoble jardin van Lafleur die de allergrootste 2018 produceerde. By the way: ook dit is succulent! 54% Bouchet geplukt op 4 oktober en 46% Merlot geplukt op 21 september. Gelieve ons te raadplegen. IN DE PERS 93 Antonio Galloni – vinous.com (Maart 2021) The 2018 Les Pensées de Lafleur is marked by strong Cabernet Franc accents in its flavor profile and structural feel. Dried rose petal, sage, mint, red cherry and orange zest all open, but only with great reluctance. Les Pensées is tightly wound now, after bottling, and needs time to be at its finest. Even so, it is pretty special today. Drink 2024-2038. 90-93 Antonio Galloni – vinous.com (April 2019) The 2018 Pensées de Lafleur emerges from a strip of soil measuring 2/3rds of a hectare than runs through Lafleur. The blend is 54% Bouschet (Cabernet Franc) and 46% Merlot, but is the Merlot that really seems to inform the wine, especially in a textural profile that is all about suppleness. Plump, juicy and inviting, the Pensées offers tremendous immediacy and overall appeal. The 2018 is an especially suave Pensées, but there is plenty of structure underneath. 95-96 James Suckling – jamessuckling.com (April 2019) This shows such beautiful ripeness and freshness with dark berries, blueberries and hints of dark chocolate. Full-bodied yet balanced and refined with linear drive and brightness. 93 Jane Anson – decanter.com (April 2019) 93 Lisa Perrotti-Brown – roberparker.com (April 2019) Composed of 46% Merlot and 54% Cabernet Franc, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Pensées de Lafleur bursts with plum preserves and redcurrant jelly scents, giving way to nuances of red roses, dusty soil, bouquet garni and tapenade with a waft of black truffles. The medium to full-bodied palate is oh-so-elegant, featuring very soft tannins and beautifully knit acidity to support the generous black and red fruits, finishing long and earthy. Give it a good 3 years to spread its wings and drink it over the next 15 years or more. Drink 2024-2039. 91-93 Lisa Perrotti-Brown – roberparker.com (April 2019) Composed of 46% Merlot harvested September 21 and 54% Cabernet Franc harvested October 4, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Pensées de Lafleur comes bounding out of the glass with exuberant notes of warm blueberries, crushed red and black cherries and plum preserves with hints of licorice, charcuterie, wild sage, underbrush and truffles. Medium to full-bodied, the palate reveals exquisitely ripe, rounded tannins and tons of freshness supporting the multilayered, vivacious fruit, finishing long with an herbal lift. 94 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Maart 2021) The 2018 Les Pensées de Lafleur is a different kettle of fish compared to the Grand Vin. In fact, it should be treated as a separate Pomerol cuvée, since even though it comes from a tongue of more clayey soil within Lafleur, the resulting wine is much more sensual and richer in style. Plush red cherries and crushed strawberry fruit feature on the nose, rose petals scents forming after a couple of hours’ opening. The palate is medium-bodied, soft in texture and approachable, displaying plenty of rondeur, with fine mineralité toward the finish and still just the faint acrid tang of a strong espresso on the aftertaste. I love this and it would not surprise me if blind, I ended up scoring it higher than the Grand Vin for the first few years. Drink 2023-2045. 92-94 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Oktober 2019) The 2018 Les Pensées de Lafleur is a small production of around 300 cases due to the small size of berries, Baptiste Guinaudeau mentioning that the pure clay soils where the Les Pensées vines are located reacted more to the dry conditions of the growing season than the clay/gravel soils that underpin the Grand Vin. The bouquet takes a little time to coalesce, but comes together, beautifully defined and floral in style, slightly creamy in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with superb mineralité. Dark berry fruit, hints of espresso intermixing with fruit profile towards the serious, intellectual finish. Cellar this for four or five years. Drink 2023-2045. 17/20 Bettane & Desseauve (April 2019) 94 Jean-Marc Quarin – quarin.com (April 2019) 18,5-19/20 Revue des Vins de France – rvf.com (April 2019) 92-94 Jeff Leve – winecellarinsider.com (April 2019) IN DE WOORDEN VAN OMRI RAM VAN CHATEAU LAFLEUR It was rainy for the first six to seven months, and then it was dry. It was hot when it was rainy and humid. So, there weren’t any exaggerated reserves of water in the soil. But the growth was quite intense after the rains—all that growth needed managing. Our aim was prevention and improvement of the vine’s condition before the mildew took hold. We sprayed if we had to but tried to avoid it when we could. When it turned dry, the vines, in parts of the vineyard, went into hydric stress, but it was not as marked visually as you saw in 2016. The shock from wet into dry was not that big because of the continuation of heat. Then you just needed to make the right harvest decision... We feel this is the fourth great successive year for us. |
