Wijn is fun, zeker in het geval van deze rode Chantegrive 2015. Sinds het onder handen werd genomen door Hubert de Boüard van Angélus (als consulent) verdient deze rode Graves alle aandacht. De neus is heerlijk en relatief vlezig, de mond zeer rijkelijk en precies met massa’s rood fruit op het voorplan. Het geheel is elegant, rijkelijk en vlekkeloos uitgevoerd. De 2015 overtuigt in een klassieke en fijne stijl, aangevuld met die fijne zuiverheid en een heerlijke finale als bekroning op het werk. Geef toe: dit is verbluffend op zo’n prijsniveau. The 2015 Chantegrive offers bright black plum and raspberry scents on the nose, the oak nicely integrated and with commendable vigor. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a little gamey on the corpulent opening but it boasts satisfying depth toward the wild strawberry and cedar-infused finish. This is worth checking out. Anticipated maturity: 2019 - 2032.

The 2015 Chantegrive is bold, ripe and forward. Succulent red cherry, tobacco, licorice, dried herbs and menthol take on shades of brooding, intense power in this decidedly virile wine. The tannins are a bit imposing today, but another 6-12 months in bottle should do the trick. The blend is 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon. Tasted two times. Drink 2018-2025.

The 2015 Chantegrive is intense, bold and powerful. Iron, blood, gravel and a host of feral notes make a strong impression in this virile, deep Graves red. The 2015 is a bit rough around the edges, yet it offers good depth and solid overall balance. This is an especially concentrated, extracted style, but it works. Tasted two times.
