Het populaire Sénéjac is al uw aandacht waard, ook al laat zijn kleine prijs dit misschien niet vermoeden. Deze wijngaard omvat 40 hectare Graves en zand in het Zuiden van de Médoc. Robert Parker stelde vast dat “the quality of Sénéjac has soared” sinds het team van Château Talbot er verantwoordelijk voor werd. Eigenares Nancy Bignon-Cordier, bijgestaan door Jean-Pierre Marty en Damien Hostein, passen er biodynamie toe.

De 2016 is een assemblage van 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc en 4% Petit Verdot. James Suckling scoort deze schitterende Haut Médoc op 92-93 ("dense and layered... racy and refined already") en Neal Martin voegt eraan toe: "Highly recommended”. Het valt op hoe vlot Sénéjac nu al drinkt! Misschien kan u deze crowdpleaser reserveren in magnum? Doen zou ik zeggen!

The 2016 Sénéjac has an attractive bouquet with floral-tinged red and black fruit—strawberry pastilles and just a touch of bay leaf, nicely defined and gaining intensity with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with fine tannin, well-judged acidity, very harmonious with assiduous use of new oak. This is a very stylish Haut-Médoc, one of the best that I have tasted in many years. This comes highly recommended. Drink: 2022-2042.

The 2016 Sénéjac is exquisite. Sweet tobacco, mint, grilled herbs and dark red fruit give the 2016 a striking interplay of aromatic intensity and palate presence. Powerful and deep, the 2016 offers notable depth yet also remains quite finessed for the year. Layers of fruit build into a long finish laced with expressive savory and earth-driven tones. This is an especially delicate style for the year. Tasted two times.

From the Bignon-Cordier family, this is a sleek, sexy Médoc with good chewy tannins and a lovely rich texture to the blackberry fruit. It has a serious edge, showing some menthol notes on the finish and a feeling of freshness that accompanies the entire experience beginning to end. Good persistency. A successful vintage here. Drink: 2023-2040.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Senejac gives notions of crushed red and black cherries, mulberries and cassis with touches of earth, violets, chocolate box and cinnamon stick. Medium-bodied and laden with bags of juicy fruit, it has a soft structure and great length. Drink 2020-2035.

VOLGENS SENEJAC

« Château Sénéjac 2016 présente une couleur rouge profonde, aux reflets grenat. Le premier nez est très ouvert, précis avec des notes de cerises noires et de mûres. Après agitation, le nez prend tout son ampleur, avec des notes complexes de fruits rouges, associées au toasté vanillé de la barrique. La mise en bouche est dense et opulente. La texture est très précise, grâce à des tanins de très bonne qualité et à une bonne gestion de nos extractions au cours des vinifications. Sénéjac 2016 est puissant tout en restant très élégant et s’exprime par une belle longueur en bouche, des tanins soyeux et bien fondus. Ce millésime fait partie des tout meilleurs de la propriété. Il allie concentration et gourmandise et c’est assurément un très beau potentiel de garde. »

Talbot

Talbot is wereldwijd befaamd en één van de de sterkste "brands" in Bordeaux. Bovendien is zijn prijs doorgaans vrij redelijk in primeur en stijgt zijn waarde over de jaren. Deze omvangrijke wijngaard van 104 hectare is één van de meest standvastige Saint Julien geklasseerd in 1855. De familie Cordier vierde in 2018 een eeuw aanwezigheid als eigenaar. Ze stelden een dreamteam samen met Jean Michel Laporte als directeur (sinds 2018) en zowel Stéphane Derenoncourt als Eric Boissenot als consulenten. 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot en 4% Petit Verdot. De naam Talbot verwijst naar de Connétable Talbot, een Engelse militair en "gouverneur de Guyenne", die op beiaarde leeftijd verslaan werd door de Fransen tijdens de legendarische "bataille de Castillon" in 1453. De familie is ook eigenaar van Sénéjac in Haut Médoc.
