Gul, rond en betoverend en verdomd smakelijk maar desalniettemin ultra-fijn. Naar mijn mening is de 2016 de beste Lafleur Gazin ooit gemaakt. Dat kan tellen als we de recentste jaren van naderbij bekijken. Lafleur Gazin is het archetype van hoe we ons Pomerol voorstellen in onze meest gewaagde dromen. 94% Merlot en 6% Cabernet Franc. Dit is dé overheerlijke Pomerol waarvan onze klanten houden!

The 2016 Lafleur-Gazin has improved since its rather middling showing out of barrel. It offers ripe red cherry, kirsch and violets on the nose, the floral element becoming more intense with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded, supple tannin, and denser compared to recent vintages, displaying spicebox and a touch of white pepper toward the finish. A "useful" Pomerol from the JP Moueix range. Drink 2021-2035.

The 2016 Lafleur Gazin is a blend of 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc this year. It has a simple, slightly earthy, smoky bouquet that is not powerful, but displays commendable detail. The palate is a little leafy on the entry with a grainy texture, a more masculine and "correct" Pomerol, nicely balanced and gently gripping on the finish. There is a touch of austerity here, but not leanness, and I suspect that it will fill out a little once in bottle. This is better than the 2015 last year, although it is not a long-term proposition. Drink: 2020-2030.

The 2016 Lafleur-Gazin is soft, open-knit and quite gracious. This is an especially lifted, perfumed Pomerol. Tobacco, cedar, dried flowers, mint and crushed red berries are all laced together in a silky, approachable, mid-weight Pomerol that will drink well upon release given its superb balance and sense of harmony. Drink 2020-2030.

The 2016 Lafleur-Gazin is made up of 94% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. Medium garnet-purple colored, it simply sings of red roses, cherry cordial, blackberry pie and warm blueberries with suggestions of cinnamon toast and wood smoke. Medium-bodied, it fills the mouth with tons of juicy red and blue berry flavors, supported by a wonderfully soft, velvety texture and seamless freshness, finishing long and perfumed. Drink 2019-2034.

Fresh and pure, with delightful cassis and cherry preserve notes that stream through, picking up hints of tea and mineral. This has some sneaky grip on the finish too.
Lafleur GazinDeze mooie wijngaard van 8,5 hectare, gesitueerd tussen Château Lafleur en Château Gazin is eigendom van de familie van Madame Delfour-Borderie sinds drie generaties. Hij is aangeplant met 80% Merlot en 20% Cabernet Franc. De wijnstokken zijn gemiddeld 30 jaar oud. De bodemsamenstelling variëert tussen leem, graves en klei. Een traditionele werkwijze en vinificatie gekoppeld aan de diversiteit van het terroir maakt van Lafleur Gazin een typisch soepele en volmondige Pomerol. MoueixChristian Moueix is net zoals zijn legendarische vader, Jean-Pierre Moueix, vereenzelvigd met Pomerol. Na zijn studies aan UC Davis eind de jaren 1960, vervoegde hij de Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix waarvan hij de leiding nam. Zijn zoon Edouard staat nu aan zijn zijde. Hij bestuurt een indrukwekkend imperium dat ondermeer La Fleur Pétrus, Trotanoy en Hosanna omvat in Pomerol, Bélair Monange in Saint Emilion en Dominus in Napa Valley. In 2008 werd hij “Decanter Man of the Year”. |
