The 2017 Lafleur-Gazin is plump, juicy and wonderfully inviting in 2017. Cedar, pipe tobacco, cinnamon and dried flowers add lovely top notes to the bright, red-toned fruit in this mid-weight, gracious Pomerol. Best of all, the 2017 can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. This is a very pretty, gracious wine. Drink 2022-2047.

The 2017 Lafleur-Gazin is bold, juicy and forward, with terrific balance and class. Ripe, racy and voluptuous, the 2017 fills out beautifully in the glass. Soft, silky tannins add to an impression of plushness. Super-ripe red cherry, plum, flowers and new leather meld together in this decidedly sumptuous, racy Pomerol. All the elements simply fall into place. In 2017 Lafleur-Gazin is an effortless, sumptuous Pomerol.

The medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Lafleur-Gazin, 100% Merlot, displays delicate aromas of crushed cherries, Black Forest cake and baked plums with suggestions of star anise, fenugreek, unsmoked cigars and forest floor. Medium-bodied, the palate is chock-full of vibrant red and black berry layers, framed by nice, ripe, rounded tannins and bold freshness, finishing with a spicy kick. Drink 2020-2034.

This estate, which falls under the Moueix umbrella, has certainly produced a successful Pomerol.

Lafleur GazinDeze mooie wijngaard van 8,5 hectare, gesitueerd tussen Château Lafleur en Château Gazin is eigendom van de familie van Madame Delfour-Borderie sinds drie generaties. Hij is aangeplant met 80% Merlot en 20% Cabernet Franc. De wijnstokken zijn gemiddeld 30 jaar oud. De bodemsamenstelling variëert tussen leem, graves en klei. Een traditionele werkwijze en vinificatie gekoppeld aan de diversiteit van het terroir maakt van Lafleur Gazin een typisch soepele en volmondige Pomerol. MoueixChristian Moueix is net zoals zijn legendarische vader, Jean-Pierre Moueix, vereenzelvigd met Pomerol. Na zijn studies aan UC Davis eind de jaren 1960, vervoegde hij de Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix waarvan hij de leiding nam. Zijn zoon Edouard staat nu aan zijn zijde. Hij bestuurt een indrukwekkend imperium dat ondermeer La Fleur Pétrus, Trotanoy en Hosanna omvat in Pomerol, Bélair Monange in Saint Emilion en Dominus in Napa Valley.
