IN DE PERS

92 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Februari 2020)
The 2017 Marquis d'Alesme Becker matured in 65% new oak. The 2017 is very deep in colour. It has a high-toned and quite opulent bouquet thanks to the 30% Merlot in this blend. Veins of blue fruit and violet emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and fleshy in texture. A saturated mouthfeel towards the finish has a slight headiness about it. A finely made, though not profound Margaux. Drink 2024-2042.

92-94 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Mei 2018)
The 2017 Marquis d’Alesme Becker was picked from 25 September to 6 October and matured in 65% new oak. It has a very pure bouquet with black cherries, blueberry and violet aromas that are detailed and pure. This is quite a sophisticated Margaux and it manifests more and more complexity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple black fruit laced with spice and white pepper. This feels very cohesive with impressive weight in the mouth, good grip with a dense, almost sinewy finish that is determined to make an impression. This is a very fine Margaux that deserves four or five years in bottle.

93 Antonio Galloni – vinous.com (Maart 2020)
The 2017 Marquis d'Alesme is a powerful, dark Margaux. Black cherry, plum, crème de cassis, tobacco, leather, menthol, espresso and tobacco accents add to the wine's decidedly potent feel. Ample and creamy on the palate, the 2017 shows the important presence of Merlot in the blend, which among other things, gives a real sense of immediacy. Drink 2025-2037.

90-93 Antonio Galloni – vinous.com (Mei 2018)
The 2017 Marquis d'Alesme offers terrific depth and resonance, but with a bit more freshness than has been the norm in recent years. Bright red stone fruit and expressive floral notes abound in this very pretty Margaux, but what impresses most is the wine's sense of balance. For that reason, I won't be at all surprised if the 2017 turns out even better than this note suggests. Tasted two times.

93 Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW – robertparker.com (Maart 2020)
The 2017 Marquis d'Alesme Becker is a blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple in color, it has a very serious, classic nose of warm cassis, cedar chest, pencil lead and fragrant earth with wafts of violets and dark chocolate. Medium-bodied, it has a solid backbone of firm, ripe, grainy tannins and a muscular mid-palate of tightly wound layers, delivering lovely purity and great length. Drink 2023-2042.

92-94 Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW – robertparker.com (April 2018)
Blended of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Marquis d'Alesme Becker is very deep purple-black in color with lovely baked plums, black forest cake and tapenade notes with suggestions of grilled meat and wild thyme. The palate is medium-bodied and intense with very firm, grainy tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing with great length and depth.

91-92 James Suckling – jamessuckling.com (Maart 2018)
A very solid Marquis with dark-berry and dark-cherry character. Medium to full body, firm tannins and a fresh finish. Very pretty.

16,5/20 Julia Harding MW – jancisrobinson.com (April 2018)
Deep crimson. Super-inviting fragrance of pure, mildly leafy black fruit. Very pure and lifted. On the palate, moderate depth with dry finesse in the tannins. Straightforward and correct with fragrance the key.

93-95 Jeb Dunnuck – jebdunnuck.com (April 2018)
Brought into the US exclusively by Jeffrey Davies, the 2017 Château Marquis d'Alesme Becker might just be the finest wine from this estate to date. Made from 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot, aged in 65% new French oak, its deep purple color is followed by a gorgeous perfume of crème de cassis, black cherries, crushed violets, and cedary spice. Possessing terrific purity of fruit, medium to full body, building tannin, and a great finish, this balanced, impeccably made 2017 will need 2-4 years of cellaring and keep for two decades or more. It’s a gem in the vintage and readers owe it to themselves to check out this estate, which has an undeniably gorgeous terroir.
