IN DE PERS

92 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Januari 2019)
The 2016 Soutard has a ripe, showy bouquet, one of the few more like 2015 than 2016, featuring red plum and kirsch and revealing touches of Moroccan spice with time. The medium-bodied palate is smooth-textured and open, offering supple tannin, plush red cherries and wild strawberry fruit. Hints of vanilla emerge toward the finish. Lovely. Drink 2020-2040.

91-93 Neal Martin – The Wine Advocate Issue #230 - robertparker.com (April 2017)
The 2016 Soutard has a tightly wound blackberry and marine-tinged bouquet, touches of iodine infusing the fruit, perhaps a little more backward than recent vintages have shown at this stage. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannin, good acidity, quite fresh with a touch of orange sorbet that brightens up the pretty finish. Soutard has been threatening to make a wine as good as this! Recommended. Drink: 2021-2040.

91 Antonio Galloni – vinous.com (Januari 2019)
The 2016 Soutard is a pretty wine with lovely freshness and energy. Blood orange and floral notes lift the red berry fruit nicely. Although attractive, the 2016 feels a bit narrow in construction. It would be nice to see a little more meat on the bones. Drink 2021-2036.

89-92 Antonio Galloni – vinous.com (April 2017)
The 2016 Soutard is soft, forward and open-knit, all of which give it considerable immediacy and appeal. The red berry and floral flavors are bright and nicely focused in this attractive, mid-weight Saint Émilion. The 2016 is a bit slender, but it is very nicely put together just the same. In 2016, the blend is 53% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon and drops of Malbec.

92-93 James Suckling – jamessuckling.com (Maart 2017)
A pretty density of ripe fruit that’s held up by firm tannins. Full to medium body. Vivid and bright. Not the 2015 but very close. Wait and see.

93 Jane Anson – decanter.com (April 2017)
Soutard has received huge investment in recent years. This is a successful, enjoyable wine, rich and firm, with the cassis side of the fruits emphasised. Extremely measured but intense, and totally gorgeous, with big, slightly chalky tannins. Here the plantings are 63% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Malbec, aged in 60% new oak. Drink: 2025-2040.

17/20 Jancis Robinson – jancisrobinson.com (April 2017)
Vibrant dark crimson. Heady, meaty, almost Pomerolian. Round and luscious. Really good texture and flavour with sap and freshness but no greenness. Racy and lively. Drink: 2024-2040.

89-91 Jeff Leve – thewinecellarinsider.com (April 2017)

89-91 Roger Voss – wineenthusiast.com (April 2017)

18/20 Bettane & Desseauve (April 2017)

17/20 Jacques Dupont – Le Point (April 2017)
