En 1175, ce village est nommé Puliniacum (titres de l'abbaye de Maizières) qui évoque un terme de l'ancien français Pol « mare/eau». Le village de Puligny a été édifié sur la nappe phréatique qui affleure, ce qui explique que les caves y soient peu profondes. Le vin de Puligny révèle souvent des robes claires avec des tons de vert clairs, des nez fins, minéraux, associés à des arômes de fleurs blanches et une texture légère, élégante. De Puligny-Montrachet van Château de Puligny Montrachet is voor 3/4 afkomstig van een perceel van 1,1 hectare in de AOC Puligny 1er cru « Les Chalumeaux ». Dit is vrij uniek. Na heraanplanting in 1975 werd dit perceel namelijk gedeklasseerd door het INAO omdat de vorige eigenaar er een twintigtal centimeter vreemde grond had aangevoerd wat verboden is in het lastenboek. Erosie en biodynamische wijnbouw hebben sindsdien de wortels dieper doen graven tot op het oorsronkelijk terroir. Dit verklaart de ongebruikelijke “Premier Cru” densiteit en complexiteit in deze Villages-wijn. Niet alleen is dit de enige Villages wijngaard van Puligny Montrachet gelegen op de begeerlijke milieu de coteaux, hij wordt bovendien omringd door Premiers Crus. De twee andere percelen zijn gelegen in « Lervron » en « Baudrières –Nosroy » (0,38 ha). Offers good texture and breadth, with more firming lemony acidity than the village Chassagne or the Bourgogne Blanc Le Clos du Château de Puligny-Montrachet (winemaker Brian Sieve described this wine as "more representative" of 2016). But still a bit tight--and not a floral style of Puligny. Finishes with good penetration and length, if slightly aggressive. Drink 2020-2025. 89-91 Stephen Tanzer – vinous.com (September 2017) (80% of this wine is declassed Chalumeaux in 2016, according to winemaker Brian Sieve; aging in 10% new oak): Bright, light yellow. Sexy aromas of pineapple, white peach and menthol, with a touch of reduction. Boasts lovely energy and inner-mouth tension to its flavors of pear and white peach. Juicy, firm and well-delineated, thanks to a relatively low pH of 3.17 (most of these 2016s are around 3.2). This high-elevation Puligny villages is an outperformer in 2016. Finishes classically dry and persistent. 86-88 Neal Martin – robertparker.com (December 2017) The 2016 Puligny Montrachet, primarily from the village sector of Les Chalumaux, felt a little muted on the nose, a scent of a wild pond water accompanying the malic scents. The palate is edgy on the entry with citrus peel and a fine salinity, quite conservative in style and missing a little length, but with a satisfying freshness for a village cru. Drink 2018-2025. Château de Puligny MontrachetChâteau de Puligny Montrachet is een zeldzaamheid in Bourgogne: de streek is bezaaid met tal van Domaines, maar telt slechts een handvol Châteaux. Na belangrijke investeringen in de laatste jaren (een nieuwe Cuverie en vatenkelder Star Trek waardig), begon Etienne de Montille als manager de biodynamie te hanteren in de wijngaard. Hij houdt van lage rendementen en ijvert naar fijne wijn met slechts lichte invloeden van eik. In 2012 werd de Château de Puligny Montrachet aangekocht door Domaine de Montille. Zo kregen de wijnen van het Château een nieuwe adem. |
