Het eerste millésime van een nieuwe wijn boeit. Maar dit is eigenlijk de vervolmaking van het Acte project (of G de Guinaudeau) dat al loopt sinds 2009. De familie Guinaudeau identifieerde een perceel van 3,3 hectare kalk en kleigronden in het Zuid-Westen van Villegouge op het plateau van Fronsac. Ze plantten er Merlot en hun befaamde Bouchet. De Bouchet is de een oude variant van Cabernet Franc, en eigenlijk het genetisch materiaal van wijnstokken op Lafleur. Deze kloon is hoogwaardiger dan de Cabernet Franc die na de grote vorst van 1956 op grote schaal werd gebruikt. Het resultaat is verrukkelijk: een neus met persoonlijkheid en een crémeux kantje in de mond. Het breed smaakprofiel is nobel en de tannine is overheerlijk fijn met een haast ziltig, bijzonder aantrekkelijk, mineraal trekje. De naam les Perrières verwijst naar kalkgroeven. We vinden die benaming ook terug op andere mooie terroirs, met name in de Loire en natuurlijk in Bourgogne. 51% Bouchet geplukt op 6 oktober en 49% Merlot geplukt op 25 en 27 september. Dit is ongetwijfeld de meest zeldzame wijn van 2018: slechts enkele flesjes werden vrijgegeven voor cognoscenti. Gelieve ons te raadplegen. Inky dark fruit, chocolate, new leather, mocha, spice, licorice and menthol infuse the 2018 with a real sense of brooding power and intensity. The 2018 is a serious wine that will benefit from time in the cellar. In a word: superb. Drink 2026-2043. 91-94 Antonio Galloni – vinous.com (April 2019) The 2018 Les Perrières de Lafleur represents the second chapter for what were previously the Acte-series wines and emerges from Guinadeau family's 3.3 hectares of vineyards centered around the southern edge of Villegouges. The Perrières is distinguished in the Guinadeau family's range (especially the Grand Villages and Pensées de Lafleur) by vibrant, somewhat teunse underpinnings that give the plump fruit a striking kick of energy. Dark red cherry, mocha, spice, leather and tobacco all flesh out in the glass. The balance of Bouchet (Cabernet Franc) and Merlot is remarkable for such a young wine. The 2018 will spend 15-16 months in barrel. Deep garnet-purple in color, it prances out of the glass with wonderfully gregarious notes of kirsch, Black Forest cake and wild blueberries, followed by hints of menthol, rose hip tea and underbrush. The medium to full-bodied palate is packed with energy-charged red and black fruit layers, supported by exquisitely ripe, fine-grained tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and fragrant. Mmmm, that is good! This is the first vintage of this wine under its new name, and there's an interesting story behind the project. The Guinaudeau family had the vision to plant a new vineyard—in the hamlet of Meyney, on the southwest crest of the limestone plateau of Fronsac—to selected vine cuttings from their Lafleur vineyard in Pomerol, most notably, their prized "Bouchet" vines, which is the traditional name for Cabernet Franc in this area. For the first nine harvests in production, the wines were available under the "Acte" numbers. Now that the vineyard and the family's understanding of it have reached maturity, this new label is born. Drink 2024-2040. 92-94+ Lisa Perrotti-Brown – roberparker.com (April 2019) “This would have been called Act X, but we felt the wine has arrived to a point to give it a name,” cellar master Omri Ram told me. This is the first vintage of this wine under the new name. The 2018 Les Perrieres de Lafleur is a blend of 49% Merlot (harvested September 25 and 27) and 51% Cabernet Franc (harvested October 6). Very deep purple-black in color, it gives up wonderfully intense notes of crushed black cherries, mulberries, warm plums and boysenberries with touches of spice cake, chocolate box, Indian spices and fresh dirt. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is completely coated with vibrant black berry and exotic spice layers, framed by beautifully ripe tannins and a racy line, finishing long. Very classy. 91 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Maart 2021) The 2018 Les Perrières comes from the Guinaudeau family of Château Lafleur fame. The first nine vintages were named "Acte" but the 2018 was seen as a new chapter and renamed accordingly. Fifty percent comes from a massal selection of Bouchet (Cabernet Franc) vines from Lafleur, located on the southwest crest of the Fronsac plateau near the hamlet of Meyney, and the other half is Merlot. I concur with assistant winemaker Omri Ram that this has more semblance to the Grand Vin of Lafleur than the Les Pensées. After an hour’s decanting, one finds brambly black fruit, crushed, powdery rock/basalt, pressed iris flowers and faint tobacco note. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Classic in style, this is not a blockbuster Les Perrières, despite the 15% alcohol. It is quite streamlined and poised on the finish, with a persistent peppery aftertaste thanks to the contribution of the Bouchet. This should drink well after a couple of years but really deserves longer in bottle. Drink 2023-2036. 91-93 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Oktober 2019) The 2018 Les Perrières de Lafleur is the first vintage released under its new name (it was previously called “G Acte”). It presents a very well-defined bouquet, almost Côte de Nuits in style, hints of vanilla pod infusing the black cherry and raspberry coulis aromas. With aeration, hints of blue fruit begin to surface. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin at its core, very mineral-driven and consequently surfeit with tension. The finish eases off a little but offers pleasant grip. Excellent.
