Wow! Prachtwijn.

IN DE PERS

96 Antonio Galloni - vinous.com (Maart 2021)
The 2018 Hosanna is rich and succulent, as it always is, and yet remains incredibly finessed on the palate. Inky dark fruit, chocolate, new leather, cloves, licorice and lavender all flesh out as the 2018 opens in the glass. Pliant and supple with silky tannins, the 2018 will drink well with minimal cellaring, if desired. As always, Hosanna is the most flamboyant of the Mouiex wines. Drink 2026-2048.

93-96 Antonio Galloni – vinous.com (April 2019)
I expected the 2018 Hosanna to be super-rich and flamboyant, but instead I am quite struck by how finessed it is. There is plenty of depth and intensity in the glass, but at the same time, Hosanna retains a level of both translucence and structure that make it wonderfully complete. My impression is that the 2018 is still holding quite a bit back in reserve, and that is a very good thing.

95-96 James Suckling – jamessuckling.com (April 2019)
This tension and focus to this is very impressive with a freshness and linear drive that really perk you up. Medium to full body, chewy yet polished tannins and a crisp finish.

96+ Lisa Perrotti-Brown – roberparker.com (Maart 2021)
The 2018 Hosanna is composed of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, the nose needs a bit of swirling and coaxing before it soars from the glass with compelling blue and black fruit scents of blueberry pie, blackberry preserves and stewed plums, plus hints of spice cake, unsmoked cigars and violets with a touch of cloves. The full-bodied palate shimmers with opulence, laden with black fruit preserves layers, supported by seductively plush tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and oh-so-spicy. It is very tempting to drink now, but 3-5 years of patience will offer a little cerebral tertiary contribution to all that decadent fruit. It should easily cellar for 25 years thereafter. Drink 2025-2050.

95-97 Lisa Perrotti-Brown – roberparker.com (April 2019)
The 2018 Hosanna is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it is a little closed to begin, giving way to black and red plum preserves, wild blueberries and boysenberries with suggestions of forest floor, bouquet garni and Marmite toast. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers profound, mouth-coating black fruits with firm, velvety tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with a lingering herbal lift.

95-98 James Molesworth – winespectator.com (April 2019)
This has a strong tobacco and loam aspect, with lots of black currant, fig and bitter cherry fruit. Shows heft and muscle throughout. Dense and built for the cellar.

97-99 Jeb Dunnuck – jebdunnuck.com (April 2019)
The inky purple/blue-colored 2018 Château Hosanna is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, all from a tiny 11-acre vineyard of clay and gravelly soils in Pomerol. Close in quality to La Fleur Petrus and Trotanoy (also in the lineup from Christian Moueix), it has a magical bouquet of blue fruits, tobacco, scorched earth, graphite, and crushed stone that, despite coming from a deep, rich, primordial barrel sample, is still layered and complex. Full-bodied, deep, and seamless on the palate, with fine tannins, it's a profound Pomerol that's going to flirt with perfection on release.

95 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Maart 2021)
The 2018 Hosanna has a boisterous bouquet that charges out of the glass like a bull in a bullring, delivering intense black fruit, tobacco, sage and earthy aromas, exuberant aromatics that you keep returning to and finding another nuance. The palate is just beautiful. It delivers gorgeous pure black fruit laced with truffle and tobacco, lightly spiced and very cohesive. Smooth as a baby’s bottom, it fans out gloriously on the finish, yet as I mentioned before, it is a long-term Pomerol. Drink 2024-2050.

94-96 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Oktober 2019)
The 2018 Hosanna has an intense and engaging bouquet with multi-layered black fruit laced with tobacco, cedar and mint, perhaps almost Left Bank in style at the moment. There is a lot of horsepower here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins that frame the pure black fruit laced with white pepper, clove and truffle that segues into a slightly smoke finish. This is an assertive and multi-faceted Pomerol than manages to deliver finesse and refinement. Unquestionably this is a long-term prospect for those Pomerol-lovers with patience. Drink 2024-2045.

70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc. Barrel sample. Darkest crimson. Lovely open and inviting fragrance of Cabernet Franc: pencil shavings, wild fruits and so vibrant. Lots of fruit energy on the palate, too, attractively dry tannins with finesse and more marked freshness on the finish but also a very slight bitterness at the very end, although I think this will mesh better with a few years in bottle. Hosanna

In 2008 werd hij “Decanter Man of the Year”.
