VOLGENS EBEN SADIE
Being the oldest of our Old Vine vineyards, this vineyard has had the benefit of time and much work; and also being situated in Stellenbosch with a naturally higher rainfall, so it came as no surprise that we harvested the most regular crop and fruit from Mev. Kirsten’s vineyard. This year we again have the spectrum of fruit aromas from very fresh green apple running through to more tropical ones, with massive tannins and texture to the wine. This is a keeper for sure and we want to urge our valued clients to age this wine for a number of years prior to drinking. The yield was slightly down but the acidity and general condition of the fruit was just amazing.

The 2018 Mev. Kirsten has a seductive bouquet of dried honey, mirabelle, orange blossom and light fennel aromas. The palate is fresh and saline on the entry, with a sense of energy and vivid animation. The marmalade and quince-tinged finish leaves the tongue tingling with glee. This continues to be one of Sadie's most compelling labels. Drink 2021-2045.

92 Anthony Muelller – The Wine Advocate Issue # 245 – roberparker.com (Oktober 2019)
Initially, the nose of the 2018 Old Vine Series Mev Kirsten started off shy but after getting the wineglass spinning, it awoke with a white powdery minerality, citrus focal point, centered around dusty white flowers. On the palate, the wine expands and unfolds with the complexity of a Rubik's cube, continually spinning between blanched almond skin, pressed citrus peel, bee pollen and with a fine powdery minerality that lingers through the finish. Medium to full-bodied, the complexity of this wine is evident with its long finish and bright acidity that is softly bitter and makes me crave fresh shellfish on the beach. The structure, complexity and focus will allow this wine to age for decades. Impressive! Drink 2020-2040.

Tim James – winemag.co.za (Juli 2019)
Chenin from urban Stellenbosch; the most regular crop this year. Greatly delicate, gently aromatic nose. Subtle apricot. Superbly intense yet refined. Dense, steely. Altogether complete. Kernel of sucrosity surrounded by steel. Grandeur.

Sadie

The Swartland Independent Producers veranderen Zuid Afrika als wijnland.
