"De Cheval Blanc van Pomerol" overtreft zichzelf in 2019. Die lovende bijnaam dankt Hosanna aan de 31% Cabernet Franc die de Merlot op zo bevallige wijze aanvult. We weten tot wat dit terroir van 4,5 hectare in staat is met zijn blauwe klei over rode graves en een ondergrond rijk aan ijzeroxide. Het millésime 2019 biedt een extra dimensie net zoals het een groot jaar past. De zwarte kers wordt gepresenteerd door de Merlot, terwijl de Cabernet Franc dit bovendien zuiver en floraal (iris) parfumeert. Volmondigheid is er zeker en je herkent dadelijk zowel het wonderlijke Hosanna maar de tekende fraîcheur van 2019 is hier de bonus. Geplukt tussen 20 september en 3 oktober. Hosanna wordt gesublimeerd doot het millésime! Volgens Neal Martin is het de beste ooit en Antonio Galloni beaamt: "What a wine!" IN DE PERS 97 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Februari 2022) The 2019 Hosanna is a Pomerol that demands, and deserves, attention. It sprints out of the blocks with intense blackberry, raspberry, incense and blood orange scents, lavish and luxuriant while retaining superb delineation. The palate is medium-bodied, multilayered and mouth-filling, delivering saturated tannins and pure black fruit; just a very faint suggestion of fresh prune and fig appears toward the finish. This Hosanna takes it to the brink of overripeness. A Pomerol blessed with what you might call "optimal hedonism." Drink 2025-2055. 96-98 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Juni 2020) The 2019 Hosanna continues this Pomerol cru's strong run of form. Picked between 20 September and 3 October, it is matured in 50% new oak. It contains a little more Cabernet Franc than previous vintages (31%). It has a divine bouquet, pure and delineated with intoxicating scents of blackberry, raspberry preserve, rose petals, hints of blood orange and a light smear of honey. The palate is beautifully balanced with filigree tannins and perfectly judged acidity. Cabernet Franc contributes an extra dimension to the finish. This might well be the best Hosanna since its inception. Drink 2025 - 2055. 97 Antonio Galloni – vinous.com (Februari 2022) The 2019 Hosanna is fabulous, just as it was from barrel. Inky, rich and explosive, the 2019 possesses off the charts fruit intensity. As always Hosanna leans towards the dark side of black/blue fruit. An exotic mélange of tar, gravel, licorice, incense and spice builds in the glass, filling out the layers effortlessly. Soft contours give Hosanna its allure, but I would not be in any rush here. The balance of opulent fruit and structure makes for a super-compelling Pomerol. Drink 2029-2059. 96-98 Antonio Galloni – vinous.com (Juni 2020) The strengths of 2019 appear incredibly well suited to Hosanna, which is shaping up to be one of the most compelling wines of the year. Rich and sumptuous to the core, with stunning depth. The 2019 is simply breathtaking. Plum, chocolate, licorice, leather and dark spice all build effortlessly. As always, Hosanna is a Pomerol built on fruit density and volume. About 2/3rds of the property is planted with 60+ year old vines (the oldest in the Moueix stable) that clearly handled the rigors of the summer heat well. The 2019 is big, bold and beautiful. What a wine! 95 William Kelley - robertparker.com (April 2022) The 2019 Hosanna has turned out well, exhibiting opulent aromas of sweet berry fruit, plums, spices and creamy new oak. Full-bodied, rich and velvety, it's broad and enveloping, with supple tannins and an ample core of ripe, generously extracted fruit. Hosanna is the most dramatic wine in the Mouiex portfolio this year, as is often the case. Drink 2025-2045. 95-97 Lisa Perrotti-Brown – robertparker.com (Juni 2020) The 2019 Hosanna sports a deep garnet-purple color and flamboyant notes of crushed black cherries, black raspberries, fruitcake and boysenberries with hints of allspice, potpourri, tilled soil and wild mushrooms plus a provocative touch of iron ore. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is laden with spiced black fruit layers, textured by beautifully plush tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and earthy. 94 Jane Anson – decanter.com (Juni 2020) 17+/20 James Lawther MW – jancisrobinson.com (Juni 2020) 69% Merlot, 31% Cabernet Franc. Barrel sample. The nose is a little more reserved and austere but the leafy freshness of the Cabernet Franc is apparent. Lovely texture, the layered fruit fleshing out fine but firm tannins. Definitely has lift and freshness, the finish clean and persistent. Staying power, I would think. Drink 2028 – 2044. 95-96 James Suckling – jamessuckling.com (Juni 2020) The aromas and flavors of blueberries, black olives, black chocolate and minerals are very impressive. It’s full-bodied, layered and powerful. Focused and chewy. 95-97 Jeff Leve – winecellarinsider.com (Juni 2020) HosannaHosanna werd op korte tijd een ikoon. Het ontstond in 1999 uit het beste perceel van 4,5 hectare van het voormalige Certan Guiraud, waarvan 3,5 in productie in 2022. De ligging, hoog op het plateau van Pomerol, is spectaculair: ten Noorden ligt Lafleur, ten Oosten Petrus en ten Zuiden Vieux Château Certan. Hosanna wordt gemeenzaam omschreven als "de Cheval Blanc van Pomerol" omwille van de 30% Cabernet Franc in de wijngaard. Het trackrecord is nu al "fameux": zo werd het ondermaats bevonden 2002 nooit te koop aangeboden en benadert de 2009 de perfectie. De lat ligt hoog… MoueixChristian Moueix is net zoals zijn legendarische vader, Jean-Pierre Moueix, vereenzelvigd met Pomerol. Na zijn studies aan UC Davis eind de jaren 1960, vervoegde hij de Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix waarvan hij de leiding nam. Zijn zoon Edouard staat nu aan zijn zijde. Hij bestuurt een indrukwekkend imperium dat ondermeer La Fleur Pétrus, Trotanoy en Hosanna omvat in Pomerol, Bélair Monange in Saint Emilion en Dominus in Napa Valley.
