Als je hield van Saint Emilion moderne stijl was je hier aan het juiste adres! Weet echter dat ondertussen ook hier anders wordt gewerkt en dat het karakter van 2019 naar boven komt, met heel mooie fraîcheur. Bravo à Madame Bécot (et son mari)! The palate is actually more promising with fine grained tannins and well judged acidity, a silky texture towards quite a persistent finish. Floral notes, cedar, mint and sweet tobacco give the 2019 lovely aromatic complexity. Medium in body, with gorgeous red berry fruit, the 2019 has a lot to offer. All the elements meld together nicely in this mid-weight, juicy Saint-Émilion that speaks to balance above all else. 88-90 Lisa Perrotti-Brown – robertparker.com (Juni 2020) The 2019 Grand-Pontet has a deep garnet-purple color and notes of crushed red and black plums, mulberries and blackberry pie with wafts of nutmeg and forest floor. The medium-bodied palate is packed with juicy, straightforward black berry flavors, framed by chewy tannins and finishing with appealing freshness. Grand PontetGrand Pontet is eigendom van de familie van Sylvie Pourquet-Bécot sinds 1980. De wijngaard bestaat uit één stuk van 14 hectare (12ha6 aangeplant) op 700 meter van de église collégiale de Saint Emilion op het westelijk plateau. Het terroir is drieërlei: kalk, kalk en klei, en zand op een substraat van kalk en klei. De wijngaard is gemiddeld 42 jaar oud en beplant met 75% Merlot, 17,5% Cabernet Franc en 7,5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Jean Philippe Fort, rechterhand van Michel Rolland, is hier de consulent. Grand Pontet is Grand Cru Classé. |
