In 2019 was Lynch Moussas honderd jaar eigendom van de familie Castéja en werd de Fête de la Fleur er georganiseerd. Om dit alles kracht bij te zetten, krijgt de 2019 uniek, rood etiket met gouden belettering. Belangrijker nog is het assemblage dat ambitieuzer lijkt dan voorheen met 73% Cabernet Sauvignon en 27% Merlot. Geproefd en zeker waardig gevonden om voor het eerst sinds heel lang in onze primeurselectie te prijken. De pers werpt bovendien grote ogen met bijvoorbeeld 95-96 in Terre des Vins en lovende woorden van Neal Martin ("frankly a significant step up... Excellent") en Jeff Leve ("the finest vintage of Lynch-Moussas I recall ever tasting"). IN DE PERS 92-94 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Juni 2020) The 2019 Lynch-Moussas comes in a swanky bespoke embossed bottle to celebrate a century's ownership by the Castèja family (and very tasteful it is too.) Does it have a wine worthy of this anniversary, you ask. Well, it has a very attractive mint-tinged bouquet, a mélange of red and black fruit laced with brown spices and cedar. It gains intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a lightly spiced entry: black pepper and a touch of Earl Grey infusing the black fruit. Well-balanced, fresh and showing similar class to its sibling Batailley. This is indeed a very fine Lynch-Moussas that frankly is a significant step up from some of the wines I was tasting a decade ago. Excellent. Drink 2024-2050. 92-94 Antonio Galloni – vinous.com (Juni 2020) The 2019 Lynch-Moussas is powerful, dense and super expressive. Iron, smoke, grilled herbs, tobacco and game give the 2019 a distinctly feral, earthy personality, but there is plenty of fruit to balance things out. Deep and virile to the core, Lynch-Moussas offers tons of power. It is also one of the most distinctive wines of the appellation. 91+ William Kelley - robertparker.com (April 2022) A rather rich, dramatic rendition of this estate, the 2019 Lynch-Moussas bursts with aromas of dark berry fruit, pencil shavings and toasty new oak. Full-bodied, ample and muscular, with a fleshy core of fruit, succulent acids and ripe, powdery tannins that assert themselves on the finish, it will reward a bit of bottle age with flamboyant drinking. Drink 2025-2050. 92-94 Lisa Perrotti-Brown - robertparker.com (Juli 2020) Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Lynch Moussas leaps from the glass with vibrant red and black currant scents, followed by baked blackberries, chocolate box and camphor hints and a touch of smoked meats. Medium-bodied, the palate is chock-full of muscular, ripe black fruits, supported by firm, grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and savory. This wine may take a little longer to come around than some of its 2019 peers, but it will be worth the wait. Full-bodied, concentrated and with a big, juicy blast of peppery, tobacco-stained cassis and blackberry, the wine is firm, classic, structured long and intense. With a dynamic finish, this is the finest vintage of Lynch-Moussas I recall ever tasting. This will age, so let it rest for a decade before popping a bottle and enjoy it over the following 20-30 years, or longer. 95-96 Terre de Vins – terredesvins.com (Juni 2020) LYNCH MOUSSAS Deze 5ème Cru Classé en 1855 in Pauillac hoort al een eeuw, sinds 1919, toe aan de familie Castéja, vertegenwoordigt door Philippe sinds 2001. De wijngaard strekt zich uit over 57 hectare en werd beplant met 55% Cabernet Sauvignon en 45% Merlot, wat veel is voor Pauillac. De wijnen zijn aromatisch rechtuit en verfijnd en vragen minder lange keldering om tot hun recht te komen. Dit alles is voordelig. |
