Dit overweldigend assemblage voor Rauzan Ségla 2019 bedraagt 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35,5% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot en 0,5% Cabernet Franc om precies te zijn. 14,2% vol. De eerste Merlot werd geplukt op 12 september en de laatste Cabernet Sauvignon kwam de cuverie binnen op 9 oktober. Verwacht 18 maand élevage op 60% nieuwe eik. Diep purper tooit het glas in ontroerde tranen. De neus is een prijsbeest: het parfum is elegant en zuiver als een klassevolle oscarwinnares uit de grande époque. Het floraal palet op de tong somt op: verse griotte of morello kersjes, iris, rozemarijn, verse vijg, snoep uit je kindertijd, vibrante viooltjes en de geur van een potloodscherper. Dit alles wordt begeesterd door umani van truffel en ceder. Soepele, rijpe tannine leidt de intensité aérienne tot etherische niveaus in de minutenlange, gedreven finale. Onwezenlijke fraîcheur balanceert de glamoureuze fruitexpressie. Granulaire, geraden contours en een onderwerp in mysterie gehuld ontwikkelen als pixels op zwart wit fotografie op Ilford papier. Picked from September 12 to October 9 and matured in 60% new oak, it has a gorgeous, seductive bouquet of pure blackberry, bilberry, crushed iris petals and just a hint of licorice. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and good cohesion and depth. The oak is seamlessly integrated on the finish, which lingers like a temptress. Two samples tasted, the second demonstrating a little more salinity on the aftertaste. This will be irresistible. There is plenty of power and depth, but the 2019 is pretty closed today. Even so, the 2019 is clearly a wine of harmony and exquisite balance that is playing its cards close to the vest. Sweet dark cherry, plum, licorice spice and a touch of new oak are laced into the vibrant, persistent finish. The 2019 is a super-classic Rauzan-Ségla that will thrill those who can wait. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and concentrated, it's deep and layered, with beautifully refined tannins, lively acids and a long, perfumed finish. This is a sensual, elegant Rauzan-Ségla from Nicolas Audebert and his team. There is the precision of Rauzan Ségla that is reminiscent of the 2016, less of the immediate voluptuous impact of 2018 but the density becomes extremely clear in the glass. A serious Rauzan, cassis and cedar, still with a rinse of iris flowers to give it the Margaux touch. 3.73pH. 50/50 1st and 2nd wine. A yield of 42l/ha. Comme si le vinificateur avait senti ici l’intérêt de révéler sa photo en noir et blanc plutôt qu’en couleur, tout en y laissant un grain certain. Ce grain qui forme une atmosphère douce et enveloppante autour du sujet et le voile de mystère. Un toucher qui accompagne l’évolution du fruit, longue et persistante, et rehausse la finale. Beaucoup de classicisme. De vivacité aussi. Des arômes de griotte, d’iris, de romarin. La figue fraîche laisse en bouche cette trace aromatique infinie et cette texture si caractéristique des grands vins de Margaux, entre puissance et sophistication. Un grand Rauzan. Rauzan SéglaRauzan Ségla is een sublieme Margaux Deuxième Grand Cru Classé. Zoveel is duidelijk. De wijngaard omvat 66 à 70 hectare Graves fines et profondes aangeplant met 62% Cabernet Sauvignon en 36% Merlot, aangevuld met Cabernet Franc en Petit Verdot. Hij is ondertussen gemiddeld 37 jaar oud in 2018. Na een erratische geschiedenis brachten de broers Wertheimer (de erfgenamen van modehuis Chanel) sinds 1994 dit mooie Château geleidelijk terug naar het allerhoogste echelon. De Schot John Kolasa, die eerder Latour bestuurde, deed dat tot in 2015. Sindsdien maakt wonderboy Nicolas Audebert er het mooie weer met de 2018 als voorlopig hoogtepunt. Maar alle recente jaren tonen zich vandaag uiterst verfijnd en succulent. Rauzan-Ségla, Palmer en Château Margaux is het trio dat de appellatie Margaux leidt. Hun schitterende tweede wijn Ségla vertegenwoordigt doorgaans de helft van de oogst. AudebertNicolas Audebert is een wijnmaker van formaat en een tovenaar. Hij bouwde zijn carrière uit bij Champagne Krug en Cheval des Andes in Argentinië voordat de gebroeders Wertheimer hem aanstelden als opvolger van John Kolasa sinds 2015 op Château Canon, de Saint Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé, en Château Rauzan Ségla, Deuxième Grand Cru Classé Margaux. Zijn “coup d’essai” werd een “coup de maître”: zijn magische Canon 2015 is nu al de legende ingegaan. |
