IN DE PERS 94-96 Antonio Galloni – vinous.com (Mei 2021) The 2020 Latour à Pomerol is a rich, heady wine that appears to still be coming together. It offers tons of depth, but a bit less in the way of cohesion. Blackberry jam, chocolate, new leather and spice give the 2020 plenty of layers, while a whole range of savory accents add aromatic presence on the virile finish. Time in the glass brings out the wine's creaminess nicely. 94 Jane Anson – decanter.com (Mei 2021) Measured and silky on the attack, this focuses on rich black fruits, bursting with flavour. The tannins quickly begin to build up through the palate, these are thick skins that give flavour, colour and tannin, but they have also teased out nuance and complexity. As you sit with this wine, the raspberry leaf and tobacco aromatics begin to curl out of the glass, as does the impressive tension that keeps the muscular texture rippling with juice. Harvest September 14 to 22. Good stuff. Drinking Window 2026 - 2042 94 William Kelley – robertparker.com (April 2023) In the 2019 vintage, this estate was a highlight of the Mouiex portfolio, and the 2020 Latour à Pomerol is a terrific follow-up. Bursting with aromas of cherries, dark berries, licorice, black truffle and petroleum jelly, it's medium to full-bodied, with a broad attack that segues into a rich core of fruit that's framed by sweet, powdery tannins. Drink 2025-2043. 92-94 Lisa Perrotti-Brown – robertparker.com (Mei 2021) Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2020 Latour à Pomerol rolls out of the glass with intense notes of fresh blackberries, Morello cherries and boysenberries, followed by suggestions of iron ore, wild sage, unsmoked cigars and pencil shavings. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers a great concentration of taut, muscular red and black fruits with a firm, grainy frame and just enough freshness, finishing on a lingering ferrous note. Drink Date: 2024 – 2044. 94-95 James Suckling – jamessuckling (April 2021) Lots of floral notes with tobacco, green olives and hints of brown sugar. Black cherries, too. It’s full and juicy. Really solid this year. It has a historical sensibility to it. 100% merlot. 94-96 Jeb Dunnuck – jebdunnuck.com (Mei 2021) Beautiful black cherry and mulberry fruits as well as spice, chocolate, graphite, and tobacco emerge from the 2020 Château Latour A Pomerol, a rich, full-bodied, concentrated 2020 with beautiful tannins and a great finish. This is another brilliant wine from the Moueix team that readers will love. 17/20 James Lawther MW – jancisrobinson.com (Mei 2021) 100% Merlot. Cask sample. Solid and even a little meaty on the nose but fresh and vibrant on the palate. Plenty of juicy fruit and finely edged tannins. Lovely poise and length on the finish. Needs a little more aromatic complexity but won’t disappoint. 92-93 lefigaro.fr (Mei 2021) 92-94 Yohan Castaing - anthocyanes.fr (Mei 2021) 92-93 Bettane & Desseauve (Mei 2021) 92-94 Michael Schuster – theworldoffinewine.com (Mei 2021) (100% M) That spicy, blackberry-ripe, wild rose herbal-fresh Merlot; full, beautifully fresh, quite firmly but finely tannic, a first-rate balance; deep, sweet, generous flavor, subtle and complex within a generous, flatteringly fleshy texture, mineral-tinged, black-cherry ripe, long and classy and persistent. A really fine Latour-à-Pomerol. Sweeter and fleshier and more succulent than La Grave … at a very similar qualtiy level … if without La Grave’s “gravel aromatic complexity.” 2028–45+. In 2008 werd hij “Decanter Man of the Year”. |
