The 2019 Hosanna comes across as a tad underwhelming on the nose with blackberry and raspberry coulis, though just a few swirls, and it begins to find its voice. It is still quite expressive after several minutes. The palate is well-defined with fine tannins that frame the plush yet precise black fruit, judiciously spiced with a long and tender finish. Top class. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting. Drink 2025-2055.

95-97 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Mei 2021)
The 2020 Hosanna has a wonderful, compelling bouquet of deep and alluring scents of blackberry, raspberry, dried iris and incense, plus a subtle minerally element that becomes more prominent with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with superb grip and density. The wine just fills the mouth (as banal as that sounds), but it has incredible volume and depth. Clockwork precision on the finish, which maintains great freshness, but this is clearly a Hosanna that will benefit from a decade in the cellar. Drink 2030-2070.

94-96 Antonio Galloni – vinous.com (Mei 2021)
The 2020 Hosanna is packed with blackberry jam, chocolate, new leather, licorice and spices. Unctuous and flamboyant, Hosanna is always incredibly distinctive. In 2020, I find Hosanna a bit monolithic and less complex than its two Pomerol stable mates (La Fleur-Pétrus and Trotanoy) but it certainly offers tons of immediacy. Hosanna is always a soloist, never an orchestra. Drink 2035-2060.

94 William Kelly - robertparker.com (April 2023)
The 2020 Hosanna is rich and sun-kissed in style, offering up aromas of berry liqueur, figs, licorice, aniseed and vine smoke, followed by a full-bodied, ripe and gourmand palate with a generous core of confit fruit, polished tannins and a suave, enveloping profile. This ripe, unctuous red wouldn't be out of place in a tasting of contemporary Napa Valley Cabernets. Drink 2025-2040.

95 William Kelly - robertparker.com (April 2022)
The 2019 Hosanna has turned out well, exhibiting opulent aromas of sweet berry fruit, plums, spices and creamy new oak. Full-bodied, rich and velvety, it's broad and enveloping, with supple tannins and an ample core of ripe, generously extracted fruit. Hosanna is the most dramatic wine in the Mouiex portfolio this year, as is often the case. Drink 2025-2045.

95 Jane Anson – janeanson.com (Mei 2022)
This lays on the blackberry and black cherry fruits like a concentrated puree and I am already imagining pairing it with a good Brébis cheese. Excellent stuff, just pulls back from being too sweet with an influx of slate, bitter black chocolate, iodine, tobacco, cigar box. Restrained but exuberant, excellent. Harvest September 20 to October 3.

95 Jane Anson – decanter.com (Mei 2021)
Here the focus is on taut, tight and knitted-down fruit. Keeps its integrity and purity through the palate, so think blueberry and blackcurrant, concentrated but with juice and precision. The underlying flavours are spice box, cigar, gunsmoke, with a texture of slate and crushed stone, showcasing both power and minerality. Overall the feel is architectural - pointed, austere, closed down but extremely precise and impressive. Harvest September 17 to 20, yields around 42hl/ha. Drinking Window 2025 – 2040.

97 Lisa Perrotti-Brown – thewineindependent.com (Mei 2022)
Made from 69% Merlot and 31% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Hosanna is deep garnet-purple colored. It prances out with bright, showy scents of kirsch, black raspberries, and juicy plums, plus suggestions of roses, clove oil, and fallen leaves. Medium to full-bodied, it is firm and grainy with a lively line supporting the tightly wound red and black fruit layers, leading to a beautiful long and minerally finish.

96-98 Lisa Perrotti-Brown – robertparker.com (Mei 2021)
Sporting an opaque purple-black color, the 2020 Hosanna gallops out of the glass with bright, vivacious scents of crushed black and red plums, mulberries and redcurrant jelly, leading to underlying scents of powdered cinnamon, lilacs, pencil shavings and damp slate with a hint of wild sage. The medium to full-bodied palate is exquisitely constructed, giving lots of nuanced, tightly wound black fruits and earthy layers with a fine-grained texture and seamless freshness, finishing long and mineral laced. Drink 2026-2052.

97 James Suckling – jamessuckling.com (Januari 2022)
Blackberry and blueberry aromas, together with green olives, stems and peaches. Full-bodied and very tailored, with a firm, linear finish. Gorgeous already. Wonderful length, depth and finish. Mushroom at the end. Really classic. Try after 2027.

99-100 James Suckling – jamessuckling.com (April 2021)
This shows very intense, old-vine character with bark, black mushroom and dark fruit. Full-bodied and creamy with unique flavors of earth and fruit. Layered and soulful. The best Hosanna ever? Merlot and cabernet franc. 45% from old vines, dating from the late 1950s.

97 Jeb Dunnuck – jebdunnuck.com (April 2022)
Another beautiful Pomerol, the 2019 Château Hosanna comes from a small 11-acre vineyard composed of a mix of gravel and clay soils. Its deep ruby/plum color is followed by a terrific perfume of spiced red and black cherries, blueberries, leafy tobacco, damp earth, and chocolate. It gains richness and depth with time in the glass and is medium to full-bodied, has a plush, seamless texture, gorgeous tannins, and no hard edges. It epitomizes the elegance paired with opulence that only Pomerol seems capable of producing. This beauty is already impossible to resist (it needs a decant) yet will evolve for 30 years or more.

96-98 Jeb Dunnuck – jebdunnuck.com (Mei 2021)
The 2020 Château Hosanna is up there with the crème de la crème of the appellation and is a true gem. Awesome cassis, candied violets, truffle, chocolate, and underbrush-like notes define the bouquet, and it's full-bodied, with a seamless, silky texture, ultra-fine tannins, and a rock star of a finish. This is another magical Pomerol from the Moueix family that you couldn't have enough of.

17/20 Jancis Robinson - jancisrobinson.com (Februari 2023)
Tasted blind. Rich and vivacious with real attack. Ambitious and not content just to be sweet and velvety. Long and well composed. But needs time. 15%. Drink 2028–2044.

17+/20 James Lawther MW – jancisrobinson.com (April 2021)
75% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc. Cask sample. Purity and precision on the nose, the emphasis on the fruit. Blueberry, blackcurrant nuance. Tannins and texture velvety smooth. Freshness in the tannins provides balance but perhaps less lift than 2019. Compact. Clean finish. Drink 2028 – 2045.

97-99 Jeff Leve – winecellarinsider.com (Mei 2021)
Dark in color, the wine is loaded with truffle, flowers, black and blue fruits and spice. Full-bodied with a serious depth of flavor, the wine is rich, supple, silky, long and intense. With the texture of velvet, the perfectly ripe, sweet, plums, cherries, blackberries, blueberries and dark cocoa holds on to your palate for at least 50 seconds. The purity here is just great. Give it a decade in the cellar and this will be a beauty. Clearly, this is the finest vintage of Hosanna ever produced

Hosanna

In 2008 werd hij “Decanter Man of the Year”.
