Alle wijnen van 2020 vertonen diep robijnrood in het glas en ook bij Siran is dit gegeven. Rijp fruit betovert de neus met accenten van zoet kruid en viooltjes. Sappig en intens op de tong met rood en blauw fruit. Ragfijne zuren snijden door het volmondig geheel omgeven door zijdezachte tannine. Een pluim op de hoed van Edouard Miailhe. IN DE PERS 92-94 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Mei 2021) The 2020 Siran was picked from September 16 to October 3 with an average yield of 36hl/ha, and matured in a prudent 35% new oak. It has a superb bouquet of vibrant black cherries, blueberry and violet scents on the nose – one that could only come from this appellation. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent but firm tannins, a crisp line of acidity and beautifully integrated oak. This is very cohesive and offers impressive salinity on the finish. Best Siran to date? I think so. Drink 2025 – 2045. 91-93 Antonio Galloni – vinous.com (Mei 2021) The 2020 Siran is bold, racy and so expressive. Inky dark fruit, lavender, blueberry jam, spice, new leather, sweet oak and licorice. This sumptuous, racy Margaux possesses terrific depth and pliancy, all in a succulent style that likely won't require more than a few years in bottle. There is plenty to look forward to. Tasted two times. Drink 2030 – 2045. 93 Jane Anson – decanter.com (Mei 2021) This is powerful and juicy with well balanced, opulent berry fruits - easy to fall in love with. This really is one of the few that has tannins that feel well caressed by the fruits, and the slightly higher than average alcohols gives a flattering feel through the mid palate. Nice job from winemaker Marjolaine Defrance and owner Edouard Miahle (who is now president of AOC Margaux, having succeeded Gonzague Lurton). Drinking Window 2027 – 2044. 90-92 Lisa Perrotti-Brown – robertparker.com (Mei 2021) Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2020 Siran features notes of blackcurrant jelly, ripe redcurrants and raspberry leaves, plus suggestions of wild sage, tar and underbrush, with a waft of wild mushrooms. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly styled and refreshing, delivering approachable, soft tannins and plenty of red berry layers, finishing earthy. Drink 2024 – 2040. 93-94 James Suckling – jamessuckling (April 2021) Lots of purple fruit with asphalt and black-olive character. Ripe dark fruit, blackberry as much as cassis, plus the fragrant lift of the Petit Verdot. A hint of new oak but not overdone. More savoury on the palate than I expected, with fresh cassis flavours to the fore. Lively, harmonious. (JH) 13.7%. Zijn familie bezat indertijd Pichon Lalande en had een aandeel in Palmer. De wijngaard van 38 hectare (het domein telt 88 hectare) is aangeplant met 46% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, een opmerkelijke 11% Petit Verdot en de rest Cabernet Franc. De gemiddelde leeftijd van de wijngaard bedraagt 30 jaar en sommige wijnstokken dateren van de jaren 1920. 2014, 2015, 2016 en 2018 zijn de voorlopige hoogtepunten. Hubert de Boüard de Laforest van Angélus is er consulent. Er worden jaarlijks zo'n 10.000 kistjes geproduceerd. Als anekdote kunnen we meegeven dat Siran 1955 het voornaamste ingrediënt was die de beruchte Rudy Kurniawan gebruikte om oude flessen Lafite Rothschild te vervalsen! MiailheDe familie Miailhe bezat eerder Pichon Comtesse en een deel van Château Palmer. Ze zijn eigenaar in Margaux van Château Siran sinds 1859. Edouard Miailhe bestuurt het sinds 2007.
