L’on y retrouve cette certitude silencieuse que possèdent tous les Trotanoy dans leurs jeunes années, tel un rocher jurassique, immuable alors que tout change autour. Des arômes opulents de fruits et de pétales de fleurs émergent des coulisses, tel le frémissement des pas de danseurs gagnant la scène avant le lever du rideau. En bouche, une concentration monumentale de fruit, une puissance minérale finement musclée et des tanins de cachemire. Un vin hors du temps. 98 Neal Martin - robertparker.com (Januari 2024) The 2020 Trotanoy is an outstanding Pomerol with fantastic delineation and precision on the nose, unfolding with each swirl of the glass. Very focused and detailed, it features intense notes of black cherry, truffle, crushed stone and loam. The palate is quintessential Pomerol, structured like a typical Trotanoy with plenty of horsepower on the finish. There's a long, long road ahead for this wine. Tasted blind at the annual Soutwold tasting. Drink 2028-2060. 97-99 Neal Martin - vinous.com (Mei 2021) The 2020 Trotanoy might be described as a beast of a wine. Unlike the previous vintage, which was refined and graceful, this Trotanoy could not give a flying four-letter word what you think. It says "take me as l am" and makes no compromises. For a 2020 it is atypically austere aromatically and | did not scribble a word for the first 60 minutes after opening my bottle. With a hell of a lot of patience, it eventually unveils incredible precision, fabulous mineralité and subtle touches of lavender and incense. The palate is medium-bodied with firm grip. It has the structure of the Forth Road Bridge, harking back to the more unyielding Trotanoy vintages of the past. But there is astonishing symmetry and an almost ineffable, cerebral finish. In a world of instant satisfaction, this wine will be overlooked by many, but in 30-40 years time, this Trotanoy will be a legend. Vertical in build, with tons of explosive energy, Trotanoy offers a beguiling mix of black cherry, plum, licorice, incense, dried herbs, menthol and graphite. There is a ton of energy and structure, along with the signature Trotanoy tannins, but all the elements are so well-balanced. Drink 2035-2060. 94+ William Kelley - robertparker.com (April 2023) The 2020 Trotanoy is the most powerful wine in the Mouiex portfolio this year, delivering a rich bouquet of cherries, dark berries, fruitcakes, licorice, anise and brown sugar. Full-bodied, rich and muscular, with a ripe, heady core of sun-kissed fruit and considerable structuring extract, it concludes with a broad, expansive finish that largely conceals the wine's 15% alcohol. Given its structure and substance, it will certainly require some patience. Drink 2030-2040. TrotanoyHet basisbeginsel dat Trotanoy leidt is superlatieve majesteit. In zijn zelfzekere en beredeneerde stijl, vertoont het de absolute perfectie die slechts enkele Grands Vins kunnen bereiken. Trotanoy is oud Frans voor « trop anoi » of « trop ennuie » (waarmee verwezen wordt naar de lastige bodembewerking). De wijngaard van zo'n 7,2 hectare is één van de best georiënteerde percelen van Pomerol en is sinds 1953 eigendom van Ets Jean-Pierre Moueix. De bodems kunnen we opsplitsen in enerzijds graves rustend op klei en anderzijds "argiles noires profondes". Beide rusten op een substraat van "crasse de fer" die de wijnen zowel kracht, diepte als complexiteit bezorgen. De wijngaard bleef gedeeltelijk gespaard van de grote vorst die Bordeaux teisterde in de nacht van 19 op 20 februari 1956 en benadert een gemiddelde leeftijd van 35-40 jaar. Hij wordt over het algemeen geplukt over drie halve dagen. De vinificatie gebeurt in ciment en de élevage in de helft nieuwe eik. Trotanoy is uiterst begerenswaardig en grote millésimes mogen vele decennia lang worden gekelderd. Er worden jaarlijks slechts zo’n 2.000 kistjes gemaakt. Trotanoy zet een indrukwekkende reeks prachtige millésimes verder. Trotanoy 2005 tot 2012 rivaliseren telkens met Pétrus. Geen enkele Pomerol, tenzij misschien Lafeur, kan deze status ambiëren. Vroeger, tussen 1960 en 1975, was dit al het geval en nu dus opnieuw... MoueixChristian Moueix is net zoals zijn legendarische vader, Jean-Pierre Moueix, vereenzelvigd met Pomerol. Na zijn studies aan UC Davis eind de jaren 1960, vervoegde hij de Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix waarvan hij de leiding nam. Zijn zoon Edouard staat nu aan zijn zijde. Hij bestuurt een indrukwekkend imperium dat ondermeer La Fleur Pétrus, Trotanoy en Hosanna omvat in Pomerol, Bélair Monange in Saint Emilion en Dominus in Napa Valley.
