IN DE PERS 88-90 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Januari 2020) The 2018 Meursault "St. Christophe" is a blend of three vineyards and sees slightly less new oak that other cuvées from de Montille. There is just a slight reduction on the nose, which develops light menthol notes with aeration. The palate is easygoing, perhaps a bit commercial in style, but there is nothing wrong with that. Finishes pleasantly peachy. Drink over the next five or six years. Drink 2020-2026. 89-91 William Kelley – robertparker.com (Februari 2020) The 2018 Meursault Saint-Christophe has also turned out well, exhibiting aromas of pear, citrus oil, hazelnuts and white flowers, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and supple palate that's fresh and chalky. As usual, this is a cuvée composed from holdings in Casse-Tête, Petits Charrons and Narvaux du Dessous. Winemaker Brian Sieve has excelled himself in 2018, producing a portfolio of elegant, precise wines that bear the stamp of the vintage without being dominated by it. As was the case last year, some wines were quite tight-knit and reserved when I tasted them in December, but they will flesh out and open up considerably by the time they're bottled. A number of 2017s, revisited in bottle, had done just that. As usual, comparatively long macerations with frequently significant percentages of whole cluster are the order of the day chez de Montille. And as I reported last year, following European Union legislation that prohibits one label from bearing the names of two appellations, the holdings of the Château de Puligny-Montrachet have now been incorporated into the Domaine de Montille, and they are accordingly reviewed here. Domaine de MontilleSinds 1730 kenden 9 generaties de Montille een bewogen geschiedenis. De twee jongste generaties breidden het Domaine weer uit tot 37 hectare (20 rood en 17 wit). De eigenzinnige bewaarwijnen van vader Hubert de Montille werden altijd al gesmaakt. Tegelijk bottelde deze advocaat, overleden in 2014, au Domaine zoals DRC, Roumier of Rousseau en hielp hij de grenzen van Grand Cru en Premier Cru uittekenen. Zoon Etienne innoveerde als eerste met biodynamie. Geïnspireerd door Alix en Jean-Marc Roulot, zijn zus en schoonbroer, bezorgde hij zijn witte wijnen fijnere zuren, lengte en precisie. De rode wijnen werden vlijtiger met meer vinificatie en grappe entière en minder koude pre-fermentatie en pigeage. Na vinificatie op vat verlengden ook de élevages. Vastberaden in zijn zoektocht naar karakter, stijl en structuur, sublimeert wijnmaker Brian Sieve de terroirs de Bourgogne. |
