IN DE PERS 92 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Februari 2022) The 2019 Les Cruzelles offers disarming aromas of blackberry and blueberry fruit, perhaps a little more discreet than some of Durantou’s other cuvées and requiring more coaxing from the glass. The palate is very well balanced with fine tannins and perfectly judged acidity, the 40% new oak neatly integrated. Fans out with confidence on the aftertaste, which turns increasingly peppery courtesy of the 20% Cabernet Franc. This is very promising. Drink 2023-2033. 91-93 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Juni 2020) The 2019 Les Cruzelles, the late Denis Durantou's Lalande-de-Pomerol estate, was picked between 18 and 28 September and matured in 30% new oak. It has a very really gorgeous bouquet with disarmingly pure blackberry and blueberry fruit. The oak is seamlessly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with dark berry fruit mixed with dried orange peel and a pinch of sea salt. This has so much character and personality, the salinity on the finish lingers wonderfully. Drink: 2023 – 2033. 92 Yohan Castaign - robertparker.com (April 2023) The 2019 Les Cruzelles is showing very well today with aromas of spices, flowers, dark berries and delicate hints of rose petals. This juicy wine is seamless and layered with powdery tannins and a fleshy texture, typical of Lalande-de-Pomerol. This wine possesses more race and depth than the 2016 La Chenade. It will offer a broad drinking window. 90-92 Lisa Perrotti-Brown – robertparker.com (Juni 2020) This wine is produced by Denis Darantou and family of Château L’Eglise-Clinet. Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Les Cruzelles (a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc) opens with powerful black fruit scents of ripe blackberries, black cherries and mulberries with underlying floral notions of lilacs and wilted roses and hints of dark chocolate, fertile loam and mossy tree bark. The medium to full-bodied palate is chock-full of expressive, crunchy black fruits, framed by chunky tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with a peppery kick. 93 Jane Anson – decanter.com (Juni 2020) For me this stands out above La Chenade, in the yin and yang of these two terroirs. Has more signature of the Pomerol side of Lalande, with rich coffee-tinged blackberry fruits, still with beautiful control and lift. Silky, elegant, concentrated. This is a wine that stands as a tribute to the brilliance of Denis Durantou in these smaller appellations, and is one that you will drink with emotion. Drinking Window 2023 - 2036 16,5/20 James Lawther MW – jancisrobinson.com (Juni 2020) 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc; 40% new oak. Barrel sample. More depth and intensity than sister La Chenade. Lovely, pure, almost burgundian red-fruit aromatics with cherry, raspberry notes. Palate bright and vivacious with delicious fruit and an additional floral note. Finely honed tannins, the wine overall gently poised and balanced. Should be GV. 14.5%. It’s medium-bodied with a chewy texture and a tight, pronounced finish. Serious. 91-93 Jeff Leve – winecellarinsider.com (Juni 2020) Les CruzellesLes Cruzelles ligt op 1 km van het befaamde plateau van Pomerol, in de appellatie Lalande de Pomerol. Je ziet de wijngaard al van aan de achterdeur van l’Eglise Clinet. De eigenaar van deze mythische Pomerol, Denis Durantou, kocht deze wijngaard in 2000 herplantte hem naar zijn veeleisende verlangens. Les Cruzelles is steeds een sappige Pomerol-lookalike, ook al zorgt de bescheidener herkomst voor lagere prijzen. Deze hoge kwaliteit en lage prijs maakt hem tot een kleine l’Eglise Clinet voor beginners... Een grote aanrader dus! 100% Merlot in 50% nieuwe eik. Met de jongste wijnstokken maakt hij La Chenade. DurantouDenis Durantou was een geniale wijnmaker en één van de allergrootste in Bordeaux. De kleine productie van zijn Pomerol "extraordinaire" Eglise Clinet is wereldwijd gegeerd.Zijn talent bewees hij bovendien in de betaalbare wijnen die hij daarnaast maakte: van de achterdeur van l’Eglise Clinet zag Denis zijn wijngaarden van Les Cruzelles en La Chenade (Lalande de Pomerol). Verderop vinden we Saintayme (Saint Emilion) en Montlandrie (Castillon). Ze zijn allemaal heerlijk, geloofwaardig en overtuigend. Saintayme is een perceel van 35 jaar oude Merlots op klei en graves in Saint Etienne de Lisse binnen de appellatie Saint Emilion. In Lalande de Pomerol worden Les Cruzelles en La Chenade gemaakt naargelang de bodemsamenstelling en de ouderdom van de wijnstokken. De jonge wijnstokken van La Chenade (gelegen op graves) verleiden terwijl we de oudere wijnstokken van Les Cruzelles op klei en graves bodems kunnen vergelijken we goede Pomerols. Sinds de aankoop in 2000 zette Denis de wijngaard maniacaal naar zijn hand. Montlandrie in Castillon is de recentste aankoop: de 11 hectare klei en kalkgronden zijn beplant met 25 jaar oude wijnstokken (70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc of 70%, 25% en 5% Cabernet Sauvignon vanaf 2016). Buiten de erkende appellaties om, behoren deze wijnen tot de beste van Bordeaux. De tweede wijn van Eglise Clinet, La Petite Eglise, is zeldzaam met een jaarlijks productie beperkt tot zo'n 7.000 flesjes. Het levenswerk van Denis Durantou wordt verdergezet door zijn drie dochters. « Je veux continuer à faire honneur au travail de mon père », zegt Noémie die al 4 jaar vinifieert samen met Olivier Gautrat, al 20 jaar maître de chai. « À Pomerol, Je suis chez moi. J’y ai grandi, j’allais à l’école du village, je jouais dans le chai et j’ai le souvenir des odeurs… ». Constance zorgt voor 400 olijfbomen en truffeleiken. Alix volgt vanuit Parijs en is gepassioneerd door kunst en Japanse cultuur. Hun mama, kunstenares Marie Reilhac neemt deel aan de assemblages. Zeventig jaar oude Cabernet Franc wijnstokken gedijen op het perfect gedraineerd terroir van argilo-graveleux. Eglise Clinet is één van de grootste wijnen die er zijn. Hun Les Cruzelles in Lalande-de-Pomerol en Montlandrie in Castillon zijn superwijnen en blijven héél toegankelijk. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
