The 2016 Lacoste-Borie has a gentle bouquet of blackberry, briar and a light marine-like scent. The palate is medium-bodied with gritty tannin and a little rustic in style within the context of the vintage, leading to an energetic, slightly peppery finish. It just needs more substance. Drink 2020-2027.

The 2016 Lacoste-Borie is a blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, cropped at 50 hectoliters per hectare. It has a clean and precise bouquet, not as complex as some of its peers, yet with thoroughly enjoyable raspberry and blackcurrant leaf tinged with cedar. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy, slightly dry tannin on the entry, hints of dark chocolate interlacing the black fruit with a touch of cracked black pepper on the finish. Drink: 2020-2035.

The 2016 Lacoste-Borie has come together nicely during its élevage. Medium in body, with lovely aromatic nuance, the 2016 will drink well with minimal cellaring. Sweet tobacco, menthol, cedar and herbs add lovely aromatic complexity throughout. Drink it over the next handful of years. Drink 2018-2024.

The Lacoste-Borie 2016 is soft, pliant and inviting. This attractive midweight Pauillac will drink well with minimal cellaring. There is lovely purity and depth to the dark berry, chocolate and spice flavors, even if the wine is a bit slender in construction. Tasted two times.

This is a beautifully fresh wine with lovely, juicy black cassis flavours. The day-night temperature changes of up to 20 degrees centigrade made a huge difference to the quality of the tannins, and GPL has some of the steepest slopes and best draining soils in Pauillac to cope with the wet early season (although this also meant some blockage of young vines during the drought). Overall they have produced a plush, easy drinking wine that offers great pleasure. 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, with a yield of 50hl/ha. Drink: 2025-2040.

In a year when Grand-Puy-Lacoste has made one of its greatest ever Grands Vins, it’s no surprise that this, its second wine, is so fine. Showing classic cedar wood, blackcurrant and lead pencil aromas, flavours of berry fruit, orange zest and fresh herbs and plenty of underlying structure. 2020-28.
Grand Puy LacosteChateau Grand Puy Lacoste in Pauillac is gerespecteerd en geliefd. Hun wijnen zijn zuiver en precies gevinifiëerd en de kwaliteit is er steeds betrouwbaar. Hun ware Pauillac-persoonlijkheid vertaalt zich in fijne aroma’s van cassis en potlood, eigen aan oudere Cabernets op een arme terroir van Graves pauillacaises. Grand Puy Lacoste is 90 hectare groot waarvan 55 hectare is beplant met ¾ Cabernet Sauvignon en ¼ Merlot. Onmiddellijk buren zijn Pontet Canet en Mouton Rothschild. De grootste successen van Grand Puy Lacoste zijn 1949, 1982, 1990, 2005, 2009 en 2010. Weet U waarom de Chinezen hem “the Crocodile wine” noemen? De tweede wijn van Grand Puy Lacoste is Lacoste Borie. BorieFrançois-Xavier Borie is de eigenaar van Grand Puy Lacoste en Haut Batailley, die beide in 1855 geklasseerd warden als Cinquième Grand Cru Classé. Hij wordt bijgestaan door zijn dochter Emeline.
