IN DE PERS

93-94 William Kelley – The Wine Advocate Issue 266 - robertparker.com (April 2023)
Offering up aromas of sweet blackberries and cherries mingled with licorice, violets and black truffle, the 2022 Bourgneuf is medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with a fleshy core of fruit, supple tannins and a long, resonant finish. From nine hectares of holdings situated below Trotanoy and next to La Cabanne, much of which are characterized by clay-rich gravels, this promising property, now working with consultant Thomas Duclos, is really beginning to exploit all its potential.

92-94 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Mei 2023)
The 2022 Bourgneuf is a wine that I tasted three times in Bordeaux, and none of them really set my pulse racing. However, a sample tasted after my return to London seems much more promising. The nose here is backward and demands time to open in the glass, almost reluctantly offering blackberries, blueberry and crushed iris flower scents. It is certainly not extravagant. The palate is much more intense and delineated than the samples tasted in Bordeaux, ironically fresher with a slightly granular texture, a silver bead of acidity, commendable sapidity and length. This correlates far more with what I would have expected from a Pomerol that has progressed so much in recent years. Drink 2030-2060.

92-94 Antonio Galloni – vinous.com (Mei 2023)
The 2022 Bourgneuf is a dark, sumptuous wine. Black cherry, gravel, spice, licorice and dried herbs are all finely delineated in a Pomerol that offers tons of richness as well as energy. All the classic Bourgneuf signatures are beautifully dialed up. Over the last few vintages in particular, Bourgneuf has been quite a bit richer texturally than in the past. The 2022 is another step in that direction. Tasted twice. Drink 2027-2047.

94-95 James Suckling – jamessuckling.com (April 2023)
A rich and bold Bourgneuf, this is full-bodied and pretty with slightly dried fruit, with velvety polished tannins. 85% merlot and 15% cabernet franc.

94 Jane Anson – janeanson.com (Mei 2023)
An estate that was always going to be structured in this type of vintage due to its location right next to Trotanoy with super-charged gravel-clay soils. Striking in its wave of violet and peony aromatics, followed by a muscular body. One of the most structured Bourgneufs that I have tasted En Primeur, with plentify cassis, bilberry, dark fruits, graphite and smoked earth, tightly gripping tannins on the finish. Good quality, will need time. 9ha, harvest September 5 to 15.

92-95 Jeb Dunnuck – jebdunnuck.com (Mei 2023)
Tasted on multiple occasions, the 2022 Château Bourgneuf never failed to impress. Checking in as 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, it has a deep purple hue as well ample ripe cherry and mulberry fruit, notes of Christmas spice, graphite, and leather, medium to full body, ripe tannins, and a great finish.

94 Georgina Hindle – decanter.com (Mei 2023)
Aromatic, fruity, savoury and spiced nose, lots going on. Juicy, bright and energetic, a lovely burst of acidity before quite lean and liquorice-laced tannins come in giving some narrowness of the structure where the power and concentration is forced into a direct line. Keeps the direction but is still fairly coiled and not yet so wide and expansive. Fruit is clean and clear, blueberries and chalky cherries. From vineyards just near Trotanoy on gravel and clay soils. Drink 2027-2045.

92-94 Jeff Leve – thewinecellarinsider.com (Mei 2023)
Silky, long, fresh, vibrant, and packed with ripe, black cherries, dark plums, truffle, chocolate, and spice. The wine needs a bit of time to better integrate. If it does, my score could move up. The wine blends 85% Merlot with 15% Cabernet Franc. Drink 2025-2040.

95 Jean Marc Quarin – Quarin.fr (Mei 2023)

Bourgneuf
