La Fleur Pétrus is altijd een stevige favoriet maar in 2022 blinkt hij uit... De wijngaard van 18,7 hectare is beplant met 91% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc en (zeldzaam voor Pomerol) 3% Petit Verdot. Maar het is duidelijk een Merlot jaar: het assemblage laat de vrije loop aan Merlot met 96,5% aangevuld met 3% Cabernet Franc en 0,5% Petit Verdot. De oogst begon op 1 september. IN DE PERS 98-100 Georgina Hindle – decanter.com (Mei 2023) A clear stand out in 2022 with so much promise. Bright and energetic, quite lean in terms of tannic structure but straight and not austere or raw, maintains a clear direction with detail and definition all the way through. Nothing seems too much, great energy and focus with cool black and blue fruits, a salty minerality and toasted liquorice. Delicate almost, such refinement given the core of power and concentration but so delicately presented you'd almost think it wasnt there. This takes some time to reveal its layers in the glass, opening up slowly with the ripe fruit, and sense of verticality coming in after a few minutes. I love the sculpting but it's how this wine opens and grows that is so compelling. It's so enormously powerful, but so well caged right now, pure, clean, crisp, soft, chalky, intense and cool. A fabulous wine. Drink 2028-2050. 94-96 William Kelley – The Wine Advocate Issue 266 - robertparker.com (April 2023) The high point of the Mouiex portfolio this year is the beautiful 2022 La Fleur-Pétrus, a wine that derives from a number of prime clay-gravel parcels on Pomerol's plateau. Wafting from the glass with aromas of cassis and cherries mingled with hints of orange zest, pencil shavings and toasty oak, it's medium to full-bodied, ripe and fleshy, with an ample core of fruit, ripe tannins and a long, perfumed finish. Seamless and complete, it will offer a broad drinking window. 93-95 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Mei 2023) The 2022 La Fleur-Pétrus was picked 1 to 19 September this year. This seems very seductive on the nose with vibrant red berry fruit, cinnamon, light black truffly aromas. Maybe it doesn't quite deliver the complexity of the very best this estate has produced in recent years. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins, and perfectly judged acidity that lends this Pomerol unerring symmetry. However, it is quite linear toward the dark chocolate tinged finish. Fine tenderness here. Give it several years in bottle as there is a lot of potential. Drink 2030-2060. 94-96 Antonio Galloni – vinous.com (Mei 2023) The 2022 La Fleur-Pétrus is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine. Sweet floral and spice notes lift a core of ripe red-toned fruit. The 2022 offers a gorgeous combination of finesse and opulence, but still in the mid-weight style that is such a signature here. Drink 2030-2052. 96-98 Lisa Perrotti-Brown – thewineindependent.com (Mei 2023) The 2022 La Fleur-Petrus is composed of 96.5% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 0.5% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple in color, the nose is completely locked-down to start, needing a lot of shaking to wake up profound notes of Morello cherries, fresh black plums, and boysenberry preserves, giving way to graceful waves of iron ore and iris scents with a touch of wood smoke. the full-bodied palate is an exercise in finesse, featuring beautifully ripe, silt-like tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing long and minerally. Impressive wine, yet it will require some patient cellaring. Drink 2032-2065. 17,5/20 James Lawther – jancisrobinson.com (Mei 2023) 96.5% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 0.5% Petit Verdot. Cask sample. Elegant and fresh with an impressive depth of fruit. A note of mint furthers the complexity. Refined texture, the tannins silky and long. Plenty of drive and energy. Persistent. Measured and spot on. Drink 2030– 2045. 97-98 James Suckling – jamessuckling.com (April 2023) Very structured LFP with black berry, chocolate, walnut and spice character. Full yet fresh with tannic tension and energy in the finish. One for the cellar. 96.5% merlot, 3% cabernet franc and 0.5% petit verdot. 95 Jane Anson – janeanson.com (Mei 2023) Grilled sage and rosemary spice on the aromatics, with rose petals emerging as the frame softens. This is structured and muscular, yet with light let in between the concentrated tannins and heavy black pepper spice. Sweet raspberry fruit also, alongside liqourice and pencil lead, and this clearly has a long life ahead of it. There is vintage imprint here, but also fragrance, grip, juice and velvet texture. Harvest September 1 to 19, 18.7ha. Drink 2030-2044. 95-97 Jeb Dunnuck – jebdunnuck.com (Mei 2023) While this château normally produces one of the most perfumed, elegant, ethereal wines in the appellation, the 2022 Château La Fleur-Petrus is a powerhouse offering loads of ripe red and black fruits, leafy tobacco, chocolate, and spring flower-like aromas and flavors. These carry over to the palate, where the wine shows a touch more of its classic elegance and is full-bodied, has a seamless, layered mouthfeel, building tannins, and a great finish. 95-97 Ella Lister – lefigaro.fr (Mei 2023) 96-98 Jeff Leve – thewinecellarinsider.com (Mei 2023) The complex aromatic profile offers smoke, licorice, violets, cocoa, and a myriad of red and black plums. As good as the nose is, it's the sensuously-textured palate, with its waves of velvet-topped fruits that steal the show. The perfectly ripe, deep fruits provide length, lift, and complexity, with a lingering finish that keep you coming back for more. The wine blends 96.5% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and .05 Petit Verdot. Vooral sinds 1998 stijgt de kwaliteit gestaag met 2010 als voorlopig hoogtepunt. De wijngaard heeft op vandaag een critische massa van 18,7 hectare, beplant met 90% Merlot en 10% Cabernet Franc. Er wordt 40 à 50% nieuwe eik gebruikt. De productie bereikt zo’n 3.750 kisten per jaar. De eigenaars zijn Christian en Edouard Moueix en de wijnmaker is Eric Murisasco. Het Château produceert geen tweede wijn. Er zijn sporen van het gehucht Lafleur in 1289, maar de wijngaard werd pas gedoopt in het midden van de XIXde Eeuw door de eigenaarsfamilie Arnaud, die ook Petrus bezat. Sinds de legendarische Jean-Pierre Moueix in 1953 La Fleur Petrus kocht, startte een stille revolutie die Pomerol tot de wereldtop bracht. In 1994 voegde zijn zoon Christian daar “une délicieuse butte graveleuse” van Le Gay aan toe, dat centraal gelegen was op het plateau. Kleinzoon Edouard kocht enkele hectare “Graves profondes” bij, gelegen nabij Le Pin, ten Zuiden van het plateau. Providence, een wijngaard aangekocht in 2005, wordt voortaan ook selectief opgenomen in het ensemble. Sluitstuk werd een perceel nabij de kerk van Pomerol en een bijhorend, elegant gebouw dat vanaf juli 2013 het nieuw Château La Fleur Pétrus werd. Op enkele jaar tijd groeide La Fleur Pétrus van 9 tot 18,7 hectare en werd zo een toonaangevende entiteit binnen Pomerol. Met de edele “blauwe” kleigronden van Petrus als tegenpool, moet La Fleur Pétrus de vaandeldrager worden van de Graves van Pomerol. MoueixChristian Moueix is net zoals zijn legendarische vader, Jean-Pierre Moueix, vereenzelvigd met Pomerol. Na zijn studies aan UC Davis eind de jaren 1960, vervoegde hij de Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix waarvan hij de leiding nam. Zijn zoon Edouard staat nu aan zijn zijde. Hij bestuurt een indrukwekkend imperium dat ondermeer La Fleur Pétrus, Trotanoy en Hosanna omvat in Pomerol, Bélair Monange in Saint Emilion en Dominus in Napa Valley.
