Joanin Bécot 2025 bewijst opnieuw dat grote namen ook buiten de geijkte appellaties indrukwekkende wijnen kunnen maken. Juliette Bécot, bekend van Château Beau-Séjour Bécot, creëert hier samen met consultant Thomas Duclos een Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux die finesse en persoonlijkheid uitstraalt. Opmerkelijk is dat het domein vandaag ook beschikt over 0,8 hectare pre-phylloxera wijnstokken – een zeldzaamheid in Bordeaux die bijdraagt aan de unieke identiteit van deze cuvée. De assemblage van 85% Merlot en 15% Cabernet Franc opent met een verleidelijk parfum van donkere bessen, viooltjes en sering, aangevuld met subtiele kruidige toetsen en een hint van lavendel. De rijping gebeurt voor de helft op nieuw eikenhout, aangevuld met grote foeders en amforen, waardoor het fruit zijn zuiverheid en verfijning behoudt. In de mond toont de wijn zich sappig en energiek, met een fluweelzachte textuur, rijp fruit en een fraaie spanning die hem opvallend levendig houdt. De Cabernet Franc brengt frisheid, aromatische finesse en een licht peperige toets in de lange, elegante afdronk. Joanin Bécot combineert de toegankelijkheid waarvoor Castillon bekendstaat met de precisie en het vakmanschap van een topdomein uit Saint-Émilion. Het resultaat is een wijn met opmerkelijke diepgang, puur fruit en een uitstekende prijs-kwaliteitverhouding – een verborgen parel die ook in 2025 opnieuw weet te overtuigen. Medium- to full-bodied, juicy and enveloping, it’s tense and vibrant, built around a perfumed, fruit-driven mid-palate that leads to an ethereal, floral finish. It's a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. 90-92 Neal Martin - vinous.com (Mei 2026) The 2025 Joanin Bécot, which now contains 0.80 hectares of pre-phylloxera vines and matured in 50% new oak plus 35% foudres and the rest in amphora, has a pretty blackcurrant pastille and raspberry-scented bouquet with fine delineation. Not powerful, but precise. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannins on the entry, fine sapidity, linear in style, with a touch of cracked black pepper on the finish. The Cabernet is actually quite expressive here, though the wine will fill out during its barrel maturation and gain more flesh. Drink 2030-2045. 92-94 Antonio Galloni - vinous.com (April 2026) The 2025 Joanin-Bécot is fabulous. Dark and sumptuous, with gorgeous fruit purity, the 2025 is positively stellar. I don’t think I have tasted a Joanin-Bécot with this much intensity and sheer textural presence. Inky dark red/purplish fruit, spice, new leather, dried flowers and lavender open first, followed by a range of floral and savory Cabernet Franc overtones.
