Vanaf de eerste indruk betovert Lafleur Gazin met die mooie frisheid en gechocolateerde tonaliteiten van rijp rood fruit. Voorzien van een indrukwekkende densiteit overtuigt hij met een volmaakt, zacht evenwicht. Dit is zonder meer een koopje in Pomerol!
8,75 hectare op klei, silts en graves. 98% Merlot en 2% Cabernet Franc.

The 2015 Lafleur-Gazin remains quite powerful and intense, but now shows much better balance, especially in its tannins, than it did from barrel. Super-ripe red cherry, tobacco, dried flowers, herbs and spices add layers of complexity. I expect the 2015 will offer its best drinking sooner rather than later, as the flavors are already a touch advanced and roasted in profile. Drink 2018-2028.

The 2015 Lafleur-Gazin is a powerful, dark wine that shows the riper side of the vintage. Black cherry, plum, smoke, graphite and spices give the 2015 its distinctive virile, brooding personality. Coarse tannins add to an overall impression of rusticity. It will be interesting to see if the Lafleur-Gazin finds a bit better balance during elevage. The blend is 98% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc.

Produced mainly from Merlot with just 2% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Lafleur-Gazin has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and is scented of warm black cherries, black raspberries, forest floor and red roses with touches of bay leaves and new leather. The medium to full-bodied palate has a firm foundation of chewy tannins and just enough freshness curtailing the intense black and red fruit flavors, finishing with a lovely herbal lift. Drink 2020-2035.

Lafleur Gazin

Deze mooie wijngaard van 8,5 hectare, gesitueerd tussen Château Lafleur en Château Gazin is eigendom van de familie van Madame Delfour-Borderie sinds drie generaties. Hij is aangeplant met 80% Merlot en 20% Cabernet Franc. De wijnstokken zijn gemiddeld 30 jaar oud. De bodemsamenstelling variëert tussen leem, graves en klei. Een traditionele werkwijze en vinificatie gekoppeld aan de diversiteit van het terroir maakt van Lafleur Gazin een typisch soepele en volmondige Pomerol.

Moueix

Christian Moueix is net zoals zijn legendarische vader, Jean-Pierre Moueix, vereenzelvigd met Pomerol. Na zijn studies aan UC Davis eind de jaren 1960, vervoegde hij de Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix waarvan hij de leiding nam. Zijn zoon Edouard staat nu aan zijn zijde. Hij bestuurt een indrukwekkend imperium dat ondermeer La Fleur Pétrus, Trotanoy en Hosanna omvat in Pomerol, Bélair Monange in Saint Emilion en Dominus in Napa Valley. In 2008 werd hij “Decanter Man of the Year”.
