IN DE PERS 90 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Februari 2022) The 2019 Lafleur-Gazin has become more refined and focused on the nose of ample black cherry, raspberry and plummy fruit, touches of pressed violets and rose petals percolating through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, fresh acidity, a slightly lactic texture and veins of dark chocolate complementing the finish. This will need time in bottle, but it should end up a fine Pomerol. Drink 2025-2038. 88-90 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Juni 2020) The 2019 Lafleur-Gazin was picked 23 to 27 September and matured in 30 to 40% new oak barrels. It has a ripe and slightly more fruit-driven, outgoing bouquet compared to some of J-P Moueix's crus. Top notes of crushed violets and Indian ink emerge after five minutes of aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with edgy tannins, more piquancy than say, the 2019 La Grave, with earthy, peppery notes towards the more introverted sappy finish. I would have just liked a little more sweetness and flesh but overall, this should offer 10-12 years' drinking pleasure. Red fruit, flowers, spice and blood orange all run through the 2019, lending tons of nuance and refinement. This elegant Pomerol will drink nicely with minimal cellaring. Tasted two times. Crushed flowers, cinnamon, blood orange and raspberry showcase the more refined, elegant side of Pomerol in this vintage. Bright mineral notes bring the finish to a close nicely. Medium in body and silky, with lovely persistence, the Lafleur-Gazin is a jewel of a wine. 90 William Kelley - robertparker.com (April 2022) Aromas of rich berry fruit, cassis, vanilla pod and pencil shavings introduce the 2019 Lafleur-Gazin, a medium to full-bodied, ample wine with a ripe core of fruit and youthfully chewy structuring tannins. This is a hearty, rather rustic Pomerol that will work well at table. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers loads of mouth-coating fresh black berry notions, supported by plush tannins and a lively line, finishing long and fragrant. Hij is aangeplant met 80% Merlot en 20% Cabernet Franc. De wijnstokken zijn gemiddeld 30 jaar oud. De bodemsamenstelling variëert tussen leem, graves en klei. Een traditionele werkwijze en vinificatie gekoppeld aan de diversiteit van het terroir maakt van Lafleur Gazin een typisch soepele en volmondige Pomerol. MoueixChristian Moueix is net zoals zijn legendarische vader, Jean-Pierre Moueix, vereenzelvigd met Pomerol. Na zijn studies aan UC Davis eind de jaren 1960, vervoegde hij de Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix waarvan hij de leiding nam. Zijn zoon Edouard staat nu aan zijn zijde. Hij bestuurt een indrukwekkend imperium dat ondermeer La Fleur Pétrus, Trotanoy en Hosanna omvat in Pomerol, Bélair Monange in Saint Emilion en Dominus in Napa Valley. In 2008 werd hij “Decanter Man of the Year”. |
