IN DE PERS 91-93 William Kelley – The Wine Advocate Issue 266 - robertparker.com (April 2023) The 2022 Lafleur-Gazin unwinds in the glass with aromas of minty blackberries, cherries, petroleum jelly and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, supple and gourmand, its satiny attack segues into a rich but vibrant core of fleshy, perfumed fruit. Owned by the firm of J-P Mouiex since 2020, this is an estate in the ascendant. 91-93 Neal Martin – vinous.com (Mei 2023) The 2022 Lafleur Gazin was picked 5-13 September. This is a vastly improved Pomerol over the last decade. This is fragrant and slightly exotic on the nose with black fruit, liquorice and truffle scents percolating through with time. Good delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, some lovely ripe black fruit laced with expresso and minerals. It seems to gain complexity approaching its finish and contains the sapidity to beckon another sip immediately. What a lovely Pomerol. Soft and curvy, Lafleur-Gazin is more about immediacy than complexity, but it offers plenty of appeal. Succulent red berries, cinnamon, cedar and new leather linger. The wine is produced from 100% Merlot. Drink from 2023-2037. Lafleur GazinDeze mooie wijngaard van 8,5 hectare, gesitueerd tussen Château Lafleur en Château Gazin is eigendom van de familie van Madame Delfour-Borderie sinds drie generaties. Hij is aangeplant met 80% Merlot en 20% Cabernet Franc. De wijnstokken zijn gemiddeld 30 jaar oud. De bodemsamenstelling variëert tussen leem, graves en klei. Een traditionele werkwijze en vinificatie gekoppeld aan de diversiteit van het terroir maakt van Lafleur Gazin een typisch soepele en volmondige Pomerol. MoueixChristian Moueix is net zoals zijn legendarische vader, Jean-Pierre Moueix, vereenzelvigd met Pomerol. Na zijn studies aan UC Davis eind de jaren 1960, vervoegde hij de Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix waarvan hij de leiding nam. Zijn zoon Edouard staat nu aan zijn zijde. Hij bestuurt een indrukwekkend imperium dat ondermeer La Fleur Pétrus, Trotanoy en Hosanna omvat in Pomerol, Bélair Monange in Saint Emilion en Dominus in Napa Valley.
